Korean dramas are one of the favorite shows of many people. The fans are not limited to any age group, ranging from children to adults. Since long ago, Korean dramas have always featured talented artists.

Frequently gracing the screen with their excellent acting skills, and able to portray various different roles, these Korean actresses have received praise. However, little did we know that behind their acting abilities, they are also talented in singing.

There's Yoona from Girls Generation, Jisoo from Blackpink, and soloist IU. Here are some Korean actresses who also work as singers. Let's find out more about them together.

1. Lim Yoon Ah (Yoona Girls Generation)

Lim Yoon Ah or commonly known as Yoona, is a South Korean actress and singer who began her career by auditioning for SM Entertainment in 2002. In 2007, she successfully debuted in the girl group Girls Generation (SNSD) as the main rapper, center, and visual.

Later in the same year, Yoona also entered the world of acting. She made her debut through the drama Two Outs in The Ninth Inning. Until now, Yoona has starred in various popular dramas, such as Love Rain, The K2, Big Mouth, and King The Land.

2. Lee Ji Eun (IU)

IU, whose real name is Lee Ji Eun, is an actress and solo singer born on May 16, 1993. According to some sources, IU's stage name comes from the words I and You. The name means becoming one, me, you, and music. 

IU debuted as a solo singer with the song titled Miya. Furthermore, IU released her first mini album titled Lost and Found in 2008. Meanwhile, her acting career began when she starred in the drama Dream High in 2011. Some of IU's famous dramas include The Producers, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and Hotel del Luna.

3. Kim Jisoo (Jisoo BLACKPINK)

Kim Jisoo is known as a model, actress, and one of the popular members of the Korean girl group, BLACKPINK. She debuted in 2016 and occupies the visual and vocalist positions. In 2015, she made a cameo appearance in the drama The Producers. Four years later, Jisoo appeared again as a cameo in the drama Arthdal Chronicles.

In 2021, Jisoo received an offer to play the lead role in the drama Snowdrop. She plays the character Eun Yeong Ro in the drama. In celebration of her first lead role debut, the BLACKPINK members showed their support to Jisoo through Instagram posts.

4. Bae Suzy (Suzy Miss A)

Bae Suzy first gained popularity when she debuted in the girl group Miss A. Unfortunately, Miss A disbanded in 2017. Two years later, she signed a contract with SOOP Management.

Suzy's acting career began with the drama Dream High in 2010. Thanks to her acting talent, Suzy became the first female celebrity to win popularity awards in film, K-Drama, and K-Pop. Suzy will star in the upcoming drama Doona! which will air in late 2023.

5. Kim Yerim (Yeri Red Velvet)

Kim Yerim, commonly known as Yeri, began her career in the entertainment world through the girl group Red Velvet in 2015. She is also known as the youngest member or maknae of the group. Besides being a singer, in the same year, she was also appointed as an MC on the MBC music program.

She started her acting career by making a cameo appearance in Descendants of The Sun in 2016. Then, in 2023, Yeri had the opportunity to star in a drama titled Bitch X Rich. Her acting as a conglomerate's daughter in this film proves Yeri's success as an actress.
