Property in MV TWICE 'MORE & MORE' Accused of Plagiarizing Davis McCarty's Work, Here's JYP Entertainment's Response

Kapanlagi.com - TWICE has just made a comeback with the mini album MORE & MORE. As expected, the lead single in the album, which has the same title, has received enthusiastic response. MORE & MORE even topped the iTunes charts in 30 countries, including Indonesia, since its release.

The Music Video (MV) for MORE & MORE has also achieved over 20 million views since its first release on June 1, 2020. Unfortunately, there is some unpleasant news accompanying TWICE's comeback this time.

This happened after an artist named Davis McCarty accused TWICE of plagiarizing his work in the MV MORE & MORE without permission. So, which part of the MV MORE & MORE is considered plagiarized by Davis?

1. Because of the Rainbow Crystal Installation

In a post on his personal Facebook account, David McCarty appeared angry after learning that there was a property in the MV MORE & MORE that resembled his artwork called Pulse Portal.

David created this Pulse Portal in the form of a rainbow-colored crystal installation back in 2018 for Baltimore's Light City Art Walk.

He was very disappointed because TWICE, whom he considered one of the best-selling musicians in history, had used his work in the MV without permission.

Meanwhile, in the MV MORE & MORE, the installation can be seen in the final chorus section before TWICE performs a dance break. Jihyo and the others stand on a floating platform with a green hill background.

2. JYP Entertainment's Response

In response to this, JYP Entertainment has released an official statement. According to the agency TWICE, they are currently discussing with the producer and the artist to find a solution to this issue in a family-like manner.

JYP Entertainment also added that this case will serve as a lesson for them to be more vigilant in conducting reviews to avoid similar incidents in the future.
