Suga BTS Uses Speech from Cult Leader in His Song, Big Hit Entertainment Releases Apology

Kapanlagi.com - Big Hit Entertainment has issued an apology regarding the controversy surrounding one of Suga BTS's songs. One of the songs in the mixtape D-2, which is Suga's solo project, is known to contain a controversial speech excerpt from a cult leader named Jim Jones.

In their official statement, Big Hit Entertainment revealed that the song titled What Do You Think that contains the speech sample does not have any hidden intentions. They also claim to have no knowledge about the history of the speech excerpt.

"Among Suga BTS's songs in the mixtape D-2, the song What Do You Think contains vocal samples from a speech selected by the producer during the song's production without any specific intention, without knowing who the speaker is," said Big Hit Entertainment, as quoted from Koreaboo, on Monday (1/6/2020).

1. Deleting Speech Excerpt

Not only that, Big Hit also revealed that they have now removed that part from the song. They did this after conducting a review.

"After examining this issue, we immediately deleted that part and announced the revised version," he added.

Previously, BTS's Suga received a lot of criticism after it was discovered that one of his songs, What Do You Think, contained an excerpt from Jim Jones' speech. This became a hot topic on various social media platforms.

Jim Jones himself was a leader of a cult who urged his followers to commit mass suicide. As a result, 909 people committed suicide and approximately 304 of them were underage.
