The name H&D itself is an abbreviation of the two members' names, Hangyul and Dohyon. Both of them were former contestants of PRODUCE X 101 who successfully made it to the top 11 in the final round and debuted as members of X1. However, at the beginning of 2020, the 11-member boy group had to disband due to controversies regarding the manipulation of the show that formed them. The members, including Hangyul and Dohyon, returned to their respective agencies.

Hangyul was born on December 7, 1999 in Namdong-gu, Incheon, South Korea. This O blood type owner used to attend Incheon High School. He has been abandoned since birth and was adopted at the age of 7. His family consists of a father, mother, Hangyul, and two older brothers who are 15 and 16 years older than him. He dreams of becoming a singer to repay the kindness of his parents and friends.

This former member of X1 apparently participated in another survival show besides PRODUCE X 101, namely THE UNIT, and ranked 13th. He also debuted with a boy group called IM in 2017, but the group did not last long. His hobbies include doing acrobatics, playing basketball, bowling, watching movies, and taekwondo. He has been practicing taekwondo for 8 years.

Hangyul is always chosen as the main dancer in his group. The dancing skills of this Lee surname idol have been showcased long before his debut. Nam Dohyon, often called Dohyon, was born on November 10, 2004 in Incheon-si, Gyeonggi, South Korea. He has an older brother and is the youngest child in his family. Like Hangyul, Dohyon also has blood type O. At his young age, he is already 180 cm tall.

Dohyon is among the idols who debuted at the age of 14 (international age). Young and talented, his musical abilities are unquestionable. He is dubbed as the 'Genius Musician' because he has been playing the piano since the age of five and started writing songs in sixth grade. Dohyon can even write five songs with different genres in one week. In addition, his exceptional rapping skills have led him to become the main rapper in his previous group.

This idol, who has studied in Denmark and Japan, also participated in the survival show UNDER NINETEEN as a member of the rap team. Besides Korea, he can speak English and Japanese. He has the skill of beatboxing and enjoys fried chicken.
