SMA Pangudi Luhur Jakarta—commonly abbreviated as PL—has long been an icon of grand pensi (art performance) organization in the Capital. This tradition began in October 1989, when PL started regularly holding the “PL Fair” which immediately captured attention through its large scale and vibrant stage presence.
In the early 2000s, students successfully made a breakthrough by inviting international bands like Rivermaya, proving their ambition to make pensi not just a school event, but a cultural celebration capable of attracting visitors from various backgrounds.
Islamic High School Al-Azhar BSD routinely holds an annual arts festival titled ALSEACE (Al-Azhar Sport, Education, Art, Culture and Entertainment), which has been held since 2003. This event serves not only as a showcase for students' talents but also incorporates social missions such as fundraising and charity.
In the 2018 edition themed “The New Era of Electricity,” ALSEACE successfully attracted around 17,000 spectators by featuring nine top musicians from various genres including Tipe-X, Barasuara, and Sheila On 7 with pre-sale tickets starting at Rp25 thousand and on-spot tickets at Rp45 thousand.
SMAN 6 Jakarta is known as one of the kings of school festivals in the capital since the early 2000s. At that time, their arts festival, named Klassix, was popular among many students from various schools due to its large and spectacular scale, even inviting international musicians like Brian McKnight.
After the pandemic, this school's festival transformed into a more modern and impressive format, with the name changed to Mahakam Festival. This festival revitalizes the spirit of the school community with engaging performances and a professional-class stage, reaffirming SMAN 6's reputation as an impactful and memorable festival organizer.
Not only large in scale, the internal festival of SMAN 6—known as the GOR Party— is also highly anticipated by students. Through this event, the school community has a creative platform to express themselves and showcase their talents in a more familiar and friendly atmosphere.
SMA Tarakanita 1 Jakarta routinely holds a school arts performance known as TARESSION, an annual event full of energy that showcases a series of creative performances and free expressions from students.
In 2021, the event was held with the theme Freedom of Expression. At that time, the pre-event and the peak day were held in a hybrid format, combining live performances with virtual activities via YouTube to reach a larger audience.
Although held virtually (via Zoom), they successfully organized a talk show featuring prominent names such as Sheila Timothy (Film producer), Maria Harfanti (Miss Indonesia 2015), Nadhira Afifa (YouTuber, Doctor), and Reza Rahadian (actor, model).
In addition to featuring big names from the country, they also invited musicians from abroad, namely Too Phat and Bamboo (from the Philippines). Interestingly, the committee was also very dedicated in their costumes on the day of the event, as in 2006 with the theme Madagascar.
SMA Labschool Kebayoran has long made a significant impact through its art performance titled SkyAvenue. Starting in 2005, this event features top national musicians such as Sheila on 7, RAN, Maliq & D’Essentials, HIVI!, Fourtwenty, Diskoria Selekta, and even international talent like Johnny Stimson in the 2018 edition themed Illogical Toon.
Next, the 2019 edition came with the theme “Funkadelic Phenomenon,” bringing the sensation of the 80s and blending local and global line-ups including Phum Viphurit from Thailand. It was noted that tickets sold out 20 days before the event.
Not only an entertainment stage, SkyAvenue also serves as a platform for social campaigns, such as Green Avenue which encourages the reduction of plastic waste through real actions of collection and recycling.
