7 Portraits of Ahmad Dhani, Postpones Dewa 19 All Stars 2.0 Concert Until Next Year for the Indonesian National Team

The leader of Dewa 19, Ahmad Dhani, officially announced the postponement of the Dewa 19 Featuring All Stars 2.0 concert, which was originally scheduled for January 18, 2025, to September 6, 2025. This decision was made because the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) will be used for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between the Indonesian National Team and Bahrain.

Here are the portraits of Ahmad Dhani explaining why the concert has to be postponed. Let's take a look, if not now, when else?

Dhani revealed that the postponement is an official request from PSSI. "The letter contains a request to reschedule because there is a match for the Indonesian national team against Bahrain in March. We are both worried that the grass at GBK will be damaged," said Ahmad Dhani in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Monday (30/12/2024).

According to Dhani, he does not want the Dewa 19 concert to be a scapegoat if the condition of the field negatively impacts the national team's preparations. This decision was also made as a form of full support for the Indonesian national team's struggle on the international stage.

"We are trying to think more about the football match in the eyes of the world, so we have to give way," he said. "Dewa 19 fans should prioritize the match between Indonesia and Bahrain because this is something that has been eagerly awaited for a long time," he continued.

This postponement does not come without consequences. Dhani acknowledged that his side suffered significant losses amounting to billions of rupiah. Moreover, this concert involves international musicians such as John Waite from Bad English, Gary Cherone & Nuno Bettencourt from Extreme, Eric Martin and Billy Sheehan from Mr. Big, Ron Thal alias Bumblefoot, Dino Jelusick, and Derek Sherinian.

"It's not a cancellation, it's a postponement, which definitely incurs (costs). It's okay, hopefully Mr. Erick Tohir will provide sponsorship," he said jokingly.

Dhani added that the world musicians initially objected to this schedule change. However, after a discussion process, all parties finally agreed on the new schedule that has been set. "They actually weren't happy, but what can you say," he said.

As compensation for this delay, the organizers will provide exclusive merchandise to ticket holders. Ahmad Dhani also hinted at the possibility of additional guest stars at the upcoming concert scheduled for September 6, 2025, at SUGBK. This concert will also feature the complete formation of Dewa 19 along with its vocalists such as Ari Lasso, Virzha, and Ello.
