After Their Song Went Viral, The Lantis is Tried in the 63rd Edition of the Music Court - Attended by Pidi Baiq and Eddi Brokoli

The retro pop band from Jakarta, The Lantis, is the defendant in the 63rd edition of the Music Court DCDC. The group, consisting of Giri Virandi, Ravi Rinaldy, and Rifki Dzaky Fauzan, must answer various questions regarding their works that went viral on social media and music streaming platforms.

During the trial held at Yess Coffee & Eatery, Bandung, on April 27, 2025, The Lantis also promoted their latest single titled Ambang Rindu. In the hearing, The Lantis faced two public prosecutors, Pidi Baiq and Budi Dalton. To defend themselves, they were accompanied by two music lawyers, Yoga PHB and Rully Cikapundung. Agus Danny Hartono from DCDC assessed The Lantis as a band with a strong and distinctive musical character.

"In this 63rd edition, we are 'judging' The Lantis because they are creative young musicians with their own unique style," said Danny. Here are the details.

The trial was lively under the leadership of Man Jasad as the chief judge, and Eddi Brokoli as the clerk who brought the atmosphere to life. Hundreds of Coklat Friends filled the location to witness the trial firsthand, which was also streamed live on DCDC's YouTube. The humorous vibe of the event made the proceedings even more engaging to follow.

The popularity of The Lantis began to soar when the song Lampu Merah went viral on TikTok in 2023. The song actually came from Giri Virandi's personal experience. "The Lantis was initially formed because Ravi and I are cousins, both love music and writing songs. Lampu Merah became our first song but we only uploaded it on Soundcloud at first," said Giri.

He added that the success of going viral opened doors for them to be recognized more widely. Not only Lampu Merah, but the debut album Pilot (2021) and the hit Bunga Maaf (2024) further solidified The Lantis's position in the music industry. Bunga Maaf has even been played more than 120 million times on Spotify. The year 2024 marks an important milestone for them with the release of their second album titled Pancarona, which serves as proof of deeper musical exploration. Now, they are introducing Ambang Rindu, which again brings up personal themes.

Giri revealed that Ambang Rindu tells the story of someone who is hard to forget. "We created the lyrics for this single together. It just so happens that I experienced something directly about an ex from middle school who I dated for only six months but is still very memorable because she was kind, beautiful, and smart," Giri said.

His love story that ended in engagement also became a strong inspiration for the song. After going through a series of hearings filled with laughter, The Lantis was declared free of all charges. They closed the event by performing the songs Ambang Rindu and Bunga Maaf live, which captivated all the Coklat Friends present.

"With the viral success of the songs they created, it is enough to prove that The Lantis are genius men who can create easily digestible music," said Eddi Brokoli while reading the conclusion of the hearing.
