Ari Bias Insists on Seeking Justice Even Though Agnez Mo Skips Court

The intense dispute over the copyright of the song Bilang Saja performed by Agnez Mo has heated up again in court. Musician and songwriter Ari Bias is undeterred in continuing his legal steps by suing PT Aneka Bintang Gading for IDR 4.9 billion. The next hearing in this case is scheduled at the Central Jakarta District Court on Tuesday (1/6/2026), despite the absence of several key parties.

During the hearing that aimed to complete the legal documents by the National Collective Management Institution (LMKN), it was revealed that several parties, including international singer Agnez Mo, chose to be absent. However, this did not diminish Ari Bias's spirit to fight for his rights over the intellectual work that he claims has been violated.

Ari Bias's attorney, Yedija E. Ginting, explained the situation of the trial that was temporarily postponed. The absence of the parties being sued led the panel of judges to decide to continue the hearing next week with the agenda of responses from the parties.  "So today the panel requested the defendants to be present. Defendants two and three were absent, so the trial will continue next week. Next week's agenda is responses," explained Yedija when met by the media after the trial.

Yedija emphasized that the absence of Agnez Mo or any other parties will not hinder the legal process. The trial will continue according to the applicable procedures to achieve a fair decision for her client."It does not affect anything, the trial will continue," asserted Yedija, signaling that her team is ready to face any possibilities in this litigation process.

On the other hand, Ari Bias revealed the strong reasons behind his decision to file a new lawsuit. After previously experiencing the bitter pill of defeat at the cassation level, he felt the need to take decisive steps to obtain clear and binding legal certainty.

"Because there must be legal certainty, I am filing another lawsuit against the organizers in accordance with the directions from the Supreme Court and the dynamics that have occurred," said Ari Bias in a serious tone.

Ari also mentioned the significant developments in legal dynamics since his first lawsuit. The Supreme Court's decision regarding the judicial review of the Copyright Law has become a strong foundation for him to move forward.

"The dynamics that have occurred since the initial lawsuit until now are numerous, both in discourse and legal interpretation. Moreover, the Supreme Court has also issued a decision regarding the judicial review of the Copyright Law. The direction is clear; we are merely fulfilling our obligations," he added.

As information, this dispute originated from the use of the song Bilang Saja in three major concerts in Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya without the necessary permission. In addition to PT Aneka Bintang Gading as the main defendant, Agnez Mo, LMKN, and LMK KCI are also involved as co-defendants in the case registered under number 136/Pdt.Sus-HKI/Cipta/2025/PN Niaga Jkt.Pst.
