As an Indie Band, The Overtunes Present the Song 'Write Me Another Song' After Two Years of Hiatus

Kapanlagi.com - The Overtunes music group had been on hiatus from the Indonesian music industry for two years. Now, the sibling group consisting of Mada Emmanuelle (bass, vocals), Reuben Nathaniel (guitar, vocals), and Mikha Angelo (vocals, guitar) is back with their latest single titled "Write Me Another Song".

This marks a turning point for The Overtunes after they released their second album "Memory Lane" in 2019. Written by Reuben, the song "Write Me Another Song" tells the story from the perspective of someone who hopes their partner can convey their feelings through their work.

"Initially, this song was just written in my notes, 'Write Me Another Song,' maybe because during those periods I started to doubt whether I could still write songs or not," said Reuben during the press conference for the release of "Write Me Another Song" on Thursday (27/1/2022).

What's special about the song Write Me Another Song is that it is The Overtunes' first work as independent artists. It's a pleasure that The Overtunes obtained after being under a major label for some time.

"The creative freedom is really enjoyable for us. This is the first time we made a project with the main idea of making it as good as possible in terms of our idealism and presentation," said Mikha.

2. Exploration

In addition, The Overtunes also used Write Me Another Song as an opportunity to explore production aspects, such as recording some parts of the song in their backyard with the sounds of birds chirping. Then, the rest was recorded in the studio, making the song feel more alive to the listeners.

"We want people to have a different experience when they listen to The Overtunes' songs, and that's the conclusion we drew during the two years in the pandemic, where live shows are really difficult to do. It seems like the only way to be different is through audio recordings," added Mikha Angelo.

3. Segar

Combined with guitar riffs and vocal arrangements that are already synonymous with The Overtunes, this production touch makes Write Me Another Song sound familiar yet refreshing.

"Now we're thinking about how we can create a really fun experience just through earphones or stereo at home," Mikha concluded.
