Bunga Reyza Launches Latest Single, Inspired by Heartbreak and Beloved Objects

Kapanlagi.com - After releasing her debut single “Wahai Tuan” in July 2024 under the label Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia, Bunga Reyza is back again with her second song titled “Nomor Satu”. This soloist born in Bogor has once again written her own song, this time collaborating with Lafa Pratomo.

“Actually, this song was created by accident. At that time, I was playing in the studio, casually picked up a guitar, and created this song. But, I didn’t work on the song alone because I collaborated with Lafa Pratomo who contributed the melody, and I filled in the lyrics. The process was quite fast because in one day, the song was finished,” explained Bunga.

This medical student revealed that her inspiration for writing this single came from two things, namely personal experiences related to her romantic relationships and cherished items.

“So, “Nomor Satu” raises the theme of backburner, which is someone who thinks they are the only one loved, but turns out to be just a side option. Sought after as entertainment when sad, but when happy again, they are left behind. This is based on my experience and heartbreak when I was in that person's position. Second, and this is quite unique, this song is also inspired by my favorite object at home. So, I have a favorite spoon that I always use when eating. I only use another spoon when this one is being washed. Now, I imagine, how do the other spoons feel, with my attitude? Will they be jealous because they are only used as a "substitute" when the main one is not available? That is the story I want to bring up in this song," he said.

1. Smooth Journey

Bunga is happy because the making of this single went smoothly, from writing to the recording process. “The writing took one day and the recording also took just one day. So, I am very grateful because everything was made easy, and I didn’t face any significant difficulties. The only thing was a slight addition to the lyrics in the bridge section, while the rest remains the same as when I first wrote it.”

Entering her second single with Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia, this long-haired girl mentioned that there have been changes since her debut song. “Yes, I feel there is something different in this single compared to “Wahai Tuan”. In “Nomor Satu”, I chose poetic words for the lyrics, but made it easier to understand. Previously, it was a bit heavy, so listeners had to think about what meaning I wanted to convey; here, it’s lighter and the choice of melody highlights my vocal characteristics. Additionally, there’s a high note at the end of the song. If before my song genre was pop-folk with a dominant folk influence, this time it leans more towards pop,” Bunga explained.

2. Hoping for the best

With this change, Bunga certainly hopes that this song can receive a positive response like her debut single, or even better. “I hope this song can be accepted, that many will like it, understand the essence of the song I bring, and that the listeners can interpret what I want to convey here more broadly. I love it when people interpret it with their own stories, which I might not have thought of at all. And, I hope that in the future, I can be an honest musician in my work,” concluded Bunga Reyza.
