Spectacular Collaboration of Floor Inc, EVERYDAYINDO, and USS Networks Presents the Hip-Hop Compilation "Microphone Checka Volume #1"

Kapanlagi.com - Through a sublabel focusing on urban, electronic, and hip-hop genres, Floor Inc from Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia brings back a high-energy work. This time, they collaborate with EVERYDAYINDO and USS Networks to release a hip-hop album titled Microphone Checka Volume #1. This album features nine tracks from nine musicians, each with a unique style. Among them are AB Mukacino with "I'm Not Playing", FALLEN’T with "It's Story", and Emirgency with "Bacotan Anak Selatan".

Wisnu Wicaksana, or Oeboer, Head A&R of Floor Inc, stated that this collaboration is a significant step for Sony Music Indonesia to promote the growth of local hip-hop musicians. "Hip-hop is becoming more recognized in the Indonesian music industry. We want to help these musicians continue to create," Oeboer explained.

1. The Origin of the Idea

Ojan Sisitipsi from EVERYDAYINDO added that the idea for this album came from Rulionzzo, one of the pioneers of hip-hop compilations in the 90s. “I see great potential in this genre, and I am happy to execute this idea,” he said. The selected musicians are finalists of MIC CHECK, a competition held at USS Jakarta 2023.

The album production process took three months, involving musicians from various cities. “The work indeed took time, but thanks to technology, communication and coordination went smoothly,” added Ojan. Out of the nine songs, three tracks were chosen as the focus: "Feel The Vibe" by Ongker, "It's a Story" by FALLEN’T, and "Oh Marsinah" by Imamosca. The three were selected for their strong lyrics and music production that is considered commercial yet still classy.

2. Go Through the Audition Process

All the material in this album is selected from auditions participated by 200 contestants, curated by Iwa K, Xaqhala, and Rulionzzo. “Although spread across various cities, this difference actually brings harmony that creates alignment,” said Oeboer.

This album is expected to be a momentum for the revival of hip-hop music in Indonesia, similar to its golden era from 1993-2003. “We want hip-hop to dominate again,” said Ojan with optimism.

Microphone Checka Volume #1 can be enjoyed on digital music platforms starting September 25, 2024.
