Celebrating the Energy of Togetherness, Balkonjazz Festival 2022 is Ready to be Held!

This year, the Balkonjazz Festival 2022 will be held at the Gasblock Balkondes PGN Karangrejo venue, Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday (14/05/2022). At this second edition of the Balkonjazz Festival, several popular national artists will perform, including Kahitna, Pamungkas, Rendy Pandugo, Adhitia Sofyan, Dere, Juicy Luicy, Raissa Anggaini, Coldiac, & Megantoro.

The Secretary of PT Pertamina Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk, Rachmat Hutama, appreciates the return of the Balkonjazz Festival. He considers this event to be an integral part of the implementation of the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) commitment within the Pertamina Group. He also sees this event, which involves many parties, as a way to strengthen synergy among stakeholders.

“We see the Balkonjazz Festival as a real activity in supporting and developing independent and environmentally friendly community economies. The presentation packaged through this music festival certainly strengthens the big idea of ​​environmental, social, and governance development ecosystems. This is where synergy occurs,” he said during a press conference at the Truntum Café Gasblock Balkondes PGN Karangrejo, Borobudur, Magelang, on Friday (13/04/2022).

1. Supporting the Government in Developing the Creative Entertainment Industry

Rachmat emphasized the commitment of PT PGN to always build positive synergy in efforts to strengthen and accelerate the growth of independent communities' economies. “The presence of Pasar Balkon in this festival is a concrete manifestation of how the strengthening of the community's economy is created,” he said.

Rachmat also said that by carrying the tagline The Energy That Heals, it is hoped that this activity can support the government's program in accelerating the recovery of the creative entertainment industry, the national vaccination campaign, and at the same time initiating the momentum of events during this pandemic.

“We feel very honored to be a part of this very positive activity. For us, the presence of the Balkonjazz Festival will be able to become a space that entertains through the performances of the best musicians and also become a promoter of economic potential, especially in the location where the Balkonjazz Festival is held,” he said.

2. Reviving Tourism After Being Hit by the Pandemic

Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, CEO of PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia and also representing InJourney Festival, also expressed support for the success of this year's Balkonjazz Festival. As an ecosystem holding company in the aviation and tourism sector in Indonesia, Edwin said that collaborating with events like this is very important.

With the decrease in Covid-19 infection rates, the presence of events like this becomes an oasis for the tourism sector in the country.

"We realize that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected all sectors, including the tourism sector. Here, efforts that can revive the tourism sector are important, one of which is through the organization of events like the Balkonjazz Festival," he said.

3. Held in 5 Super Priority Destinations in Indonesia

Edwin hopes that events like this will not only be limited to this location. He wants festival events like this to also be held in five super priority destinations in Indonesia.

"Balkonjazz Festival events like this can be duplicated and adapted to the atmosphere of other destinations such as those in Lake Toba, Likupang, Labuan Bajo, and Mandalika," he said.

The CEO of PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko (persero), Edy Setijono, sees the presence of the Balkonjazz Festival as one real effort in introducing non-temple destinations. According to Edy, the development of tourism in Borobudur as one of the 5 Super Priority Destinations in Indonesia should not only be focused on one place or temple tourism.

In line with TWC's vision as an Indonesian Heritage Management Corporation, Edy said that the Balkonjazz Festival is still in the same spirit to develop tourism destinations in the Borobudur area.

"Of course, in the future, the Balkonjazz Festival can also interpret and introduce local wisdom as well as heritage potential in the location of the event,” he said.

Bakkar Wibowo, founder of the Balkonjazz Festival and promoter of Sinergi Live, explained the noble effort of the festival's presence to support the growth of the local economy through entertainment performances. He felt that the involvement and participation of the local community was very necessary to be involved.

“This means that the happiness gained from the visitors and audience of the festival is also integrated with the happiness achieved by the local community,” said Bakkar.

Bakkar said that in several festivals in various places and countries, the role of the local community is always involved. In this case, he said, the Balkonjazz Festival sees the strengthening of the local economy not as a kind of jargon anymore.
