Kapanlagi.com - The pop punk band Dindapobia has consistently shown its presence in the Indonesian music scene since it was formed in 1996. Although it has undergone several personnel changes, their musical spirit has remained intact over the years. In 2023, Dindapobia faced a turning point in its career when the vocalist Ogie decided to resign from the band.
"We had been talking since 2022, and Ogie finally decided to leave, as he felt we were no longer on the same path," said Anto, the guitarist of Dindapobia.
Ogie's departure did not stop the band from moving forward. Anto, along with Ferry (bass) and Edelways (drums), was determined to continue creating music.
"At that time, the three of us discussed and agreed to keep making songs, even without a permanent vocalist," he said.
Under the RMV Records label, Dindapobia immediately returned to the studio to record new material. One of the songs they are working on is “IBU,” the first single without a main vocalist, featuring Galihbabi from Brigade07 as a guest vocalist.
"We wrote this song together and immediately thought of inviting Galihbabi, because we have known each other for a long time and are musically compatible," said Ferry.
"Ibu" becomes a song with a different pop punk vibe due to its touching lyrics that tell the story of a mother's sacrifice. The music video has also been released on YouTube and received positive responses from listeners.
"Usually Dindapobia writes songs about life, love, or social issues. But this time we want to create something more personal and emotional," added Edelways.
In 2024, Dindapobia returns with a second single titled "Rise Up, Friend". This song encourages listeners to rise from adversity and not dwell on painful pasts.
"We wrote this song during a transitional period, and the lyrics are inspired a lot by our journey as well," explained Anto.
Interestingly, in the song "Rise Up, Friend", Dindapobia features a collaboration with Happy Arabika (vocalist of Pig Face Joe) as well as a brass section from the band Indahnya Pohon Cemara.

The strong ska vibe makes this song sound fresh and different from previous releases.
"We want to bring new energy to this song, and collaborating with them really adds the color we were looking for," said Ferry.
The music video “Rise Up, Friends” tells the story of a woman who rises from disappointment and rediscovers the meaning of her life. This theme is considered in line with the current spirit of Dindapobia.
“The story in the music video is actually a metaphor for us as well, that we can keep going even after we fall,” said Edelways.
Known for the song “Live Again” which was a hit in 2012, Dindapobia now presents itself more flexibly by opening up collaboration space in each of their new works. They have even prepared a third single that is planned to be released soon.
"What’s certain is that we will still invite guest vocalists, but who it will be, let it be a surprise later," concluded Anto.
