This song was written by Yuka Tamada herself based on her personal experience that tells about the beauty of differences.
Yes, personal experience. Back in school, I had a friend who was often bullied just because she was a little different, like the way she spoke, and other things, basically just different. And then, when she entered a room, she was seen differently by people, including me who also participated in bullying," said Yuka Tamada in a virtual press conference, Friday (26/3/2021)

As an adult, this Makassar-born singer of Japanese descent realizes that what she did was wrong at the time. Yuka Tamada said that the song Pelangi was made as an apology to her friend for bullying her because of their differences.
"As I grew older, I realized that what I did was wrong. In a way, this song is my apology from the past," said Yuka Tamada.
Through the song Pelangi, Yuka Tamada wants to invite the wider community to respect the beauty of differences. In addition, the release of the song Pelangi also marks a new journey for Yuka Tamada under the Lakoe Musik label.
"With Lakoe Musik, I feel totally free and still supported. There is always support even during the pandemic. If it wasn't for Lakoe Musik, maybe Pelangi wouldn't have been released," Yuka Tamada concluded.
