'GAIB', Supernatural Beings in Thrash Metal Garb Ala Babirusa Special

Kapanlagi.com - Hearing the phrase Thrash Metal may sound quite old-fashioned to the current generation. Amidst the onslaught of other heavy music genres such as Hardcore, Metalcore, and Death Metal, this band from Malang remains persistent with their musical style.

After going through a lengthy process, the Crossover Thrash unit from Malang, Babirusa, finally released their debut album titled "Gaib". In this Gaib album, we will be presented with 8 deadly tracks with Babirusa's characteristic fast tempo.

In 2020, 2 singles have been released. namely Pertempuran Para Siluman in the form of a music video and Tari dan Tarian Mistik in the form of a lyric video.

Unlike their previous EP with a Sci-fi theme, in this debut album, Babirusa tries to incorporate mystical themes that are still closely related to Indonesian society. However, if understood carefully, some themes in the songs still have connections to real life.

1. Collaboration with Several Parties

As in the track Pertempuran Para Siluman, in ancient times powerful people would fight with the help of what was considered supernatural, but in the present era, humans compete using social media and spread fake news about their opponents or competitors without actually doing such things.

To achieve the maximum mystical-themed album, Babirusa collaborated with Indra Rahmawan for the artwork design. As for the recording process, the drums were recorded at Virtuoso music studio, while the guitar, bass, and vocals were recorded at Wildcat Music, and for the final touch, it was mixed by Gigih Prasetya at AA Music Studio.

In the music video for Pertempuran Para Siluman, which was released earlier, Indra Rahmawan also collaborated, while for the lyric video Tari dan Tarian Mistik, it collaborated with one of the talented local youths, Abel Risang.

2. Limited Edition Print

Not only that, Babirusa also collaborates with Moodbreaker Records for merchandise distribution, but for CD releases, they are printed in very limited quantities and can only be obtained through bundle packages.

In terms of music style, Babirusa still maintains their typical fast-paced tempo, combining hardcore/punk and metal in general. It makes sense to shake the ears of metalheads who miss the metal music era of the 80s and early 90s.

The album "Gaib" can already be enjoyed online on several of your favorite digital music services.
