Novia Bachmid Reveals Her Experience as a Judge in a Talent Search Event

Kapanlagi.com - The name Novia Bachmid is already quite prominent in the Indonesian entertainment industry. She is known as a graduate of Indonesian Idol season 10. Long before that, Novia was noted to have participated in the Idola Cilik season 4 competition.

In 2018, she returned to participate in a talent search event, The Voice Indonesia season three, which aired on GTV. She managed to advance to the top 32 and was eliminated in the Live Rounds.

With a long journey following talent search events since a young age, it’s no surprise that Novia Bachmid has been trusted to be a judge. Recently, Novia was appointed as a judge in the talent search event Veiled Musician Indonesia 2025.

"This is my second time sitting as a judge. I was previously a judge in Idola Cilik in 2022, and now I am trusted again to assess new talents," she explained when met at a press conference on Tuesday (16/9).

As a judge, the singer born in Bolaang Mongondow Timur on January 19, 2002, emphasized several factors for the participants.

"I always look at how participants can master the meaning of the song, explore their vocals, and still bring emotion," she said.

According to her, the main criteria observed is not just singing technique, but also the ability to tell a story through voice.

"For me, a singer must be able to tell a story through their voice. From there, the audience can feel the message of the song, not just hear the technique," Novia added.

Even though she has become a judge, it doesn't mean Novia has never faced challenges. Her voice once gave out while mentoring a contestant.

"At that time, my voice was gone, so I only sang a little to guide the contestant. The important thing is that they still perform at their best. That proves that the judges here are not just giving comments, but also actively demonstrating on stage," she revealed.

7. Audition Program

Veiled Musician Indonesia is a music audition program from South Korea with a judging concept without participant identity. Three representatives from Indonesia will be selected to perform at the Asia Grand Final 2025 in South Korea alongside finalists from 12 other countries.

This event will take place from August 1-7, 2025. The audition participants will perform behind a curtain without being allowed to interact directly with the judges. Their identities will remain confidential from the waiting room to the production stage.

"Judges are not given the opportunity to know the participants. So what will be presented is reality as it is, without manipulation," explained Pinkan Laluyan, General Manager of Production RTV.
