Thousands of Bats Fill Surabaya, .Feast Performs the Song 'Civilization' in the City that Gave Birth to It

After successfully holding an emotional concert in Jakarta, the band .Feast continued its journey to the city of Surabaya by presenting a spectacular show titled 'Building & Destroying Show' at Grand City Convex Surabaya.

On Saturday night (13/9), the stage opened with the song Building, starting their long setlist journey. Not only musical performances, .Feast also brought surprises with artistic collaborations with a marching band and traditional dance accompanying the performance of Destructive Dance.

The atmosphere became even more solemn when the concert closed with Tarot, a song that symbolizes reflection and a sweet farewell for the thousands of spectators filling the venue. At this concert, .Feast performed 28 songs with a duration of two hours.

1. Surabaya, a City with a Story

The choice of Surabaya is not without reason. For .Feast, they have a strong emotional bond with this city. One of their greatest works, Peradaban, was born from an important event that took place in Surabaya a few years ago.

"Surabaya feels like a second home to us. There is history, emotional closeness, and even works that were born from this city," said Baskara.

It’s no surprise that this concert was met with great enthusiasm. The audience, most of whom wore black outfits, filled the arena, creating a dark sea that contrasted with the stage lights. The Kelelawar—what fans of .Feast are called—came from various corners, from Jakarta to Samarinda, to witness this concert.

2. Music and Social Anxiety

More than just entertainment, this concert also serves as a space for .Feast to voice the concerns felt by the community. Through lyrics, narratives, and interactions with the audience, they remind us of real issues: from job opportunities, laws, to other social problems that still exist in Indonesia.

They also remember the tragedy of the demonstrations some time ago. "There were 10 people who died, 3 missing, 1,042 injured, and 3,337 people still detained. This is not just a number, these are lives and stories that we must remember," said the vocalist in the middle of the stage.

Not to forget, an important message was conveyed: "Citizens protect citizens." A call for fans to not only enjoy the music but also to continue to speak out and take care of one another.
