Personnel /Rif and Powerslaves Unite to Perform 80s Rock Songs

Kapanlagi.com - Several renowned rock musicians in the country have formed a new project called Rock 80. It consists of Andy (vocalist of /Rif), Jikun (guitarist of Rif), Ovy (guitarist of /Rif), Anwar Fatahillah (bassist of Powerslaves), Heydi Ibrahim (vocalist of Powerslaves), Gatz (former keyboardist of Ungu), and Anton (drummer of Juliet).

Through the Rock 80 project, these musicians perform popular rock songs from the 80s, such as Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, and many more. This project is taken very seriously by Rock 80. As evidence, they have already held three gigs in Central Java, specifically in Semarang, Purworejo, and Purwokerto.

"I came up with this idea because music is actually more universal. We are in the industry that understands the 80s era. That's why we embrace the 80s era. We enjoy it together, and we met again in Semarang last year and the idea was born since then. The goal is to entertain without thinking about creating new works, just collaboration, to commemorate the 80s era. We all agreed on that," said Jikun, the guitarist of /Rif, at Hard Rock Cafe, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3/2020).

1. Collaborating with Several Guest Musicians

In those cities, Rock 80 collaborated with several guest musicians, including Shakuntala Project Feat. Mplay Utopia and Rea Maronta. Seeing the success in Central Java, Rock 80 will hold another concert in Jakarta. With full support from EPSILON, an English language education institution based in Semarang, this concert will be held at Hard Rock Café Jakarta on March 18, 2020.

"The concept is that we only play 80's Rock that we present at the event. Not songs from our own work. Originally, we wanted to invite other musicians or bands, but considering the circumstances, it's just the two of us, Powerslaves and /Rif," said Jikun.

2. Performing 80s Songs

In this concert, Rock 80 will not perform their own songs. They will perform songs that were hits in the 80s. They plan to perform approximately 15 songs. Meanwhile, in their performance at Hard Rock Café, Rock 80 will be accompanied by Andy /Rif. He will take turns with Heydi Ibrahim in leading the vocals.

"The desired duration is long, so we prepare a total of 15 songs. We will perform era-specific songs like spandex hair metal and glam rock. As for covers, we agreed to cover songs that were already hits in the 80s. As for the arrangements, we will create them again, for example, the sound will not be the same as before, so it will be more biting in terms of sound quality," concluded Jikun.
