Presenting a New Concept, BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo Closed by Sal Priadi with a Bang

Kapanlagi.com - Coming with a different series concept from before, the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo event was held with great enthusiasm. The fog that filled the Jiwa Jawa Resort Bromo Amphitheater since the afternoon did not diminish the audience's excitement to watch the lineup of performers scheduled for this second series.

A total of 6 performers filled the second series on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Starting from Lorjhu', Bintang Indrianto Trio, Natasya Elvira accompanied by Bromo jazz camp, Tohpati Ethnomission, Rouge, and finally Sal Priadi who closed the concert with a bang.

The six performers brought music with different characters. Lorjhu' performed ethnic rock music with songs in the Madurese language, bringing a different vibe than usual. Meanwhile, Bintang Indrianto presented fusion music and Natasya Elvira sung standard jazz songs.

Tohpati Ethnomission warmed up the night with beautiful Nusantara ethnic music, while Rouge, a band from France, delivered contemporary jazz music that was soulful. The night was closed with a performance by Sal Priadi, who performed contemporary pop songs that he rearranged with a jazz feel.

1. Combine Jazz with Other Music

The different music genres showcased at the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo have become one of the hallmarks of this concert, which has been held 17 times. Although it carries the name jazz, Jazz Gunung emphasizes that they have always presented a concept that is not 100 percent jazz.

"Jazz Gunung never claims to be 100 percent jazz either. Actually, our roots are in ethno-jazz, how we can combine ethnicity, tradition with jazz music. Although we also have pop stars, we do not deny that, but we are proportional. That’s what we maintain; we have programs for jazz musicians," said Bagas Indyatmono, Director of Jazz Gunung, during a press conference before the concert on Saturday, (26/7).

2. Concept Series

This year, 2025, Jazz Gunung will also be held with a concept that is very different from previous ones. Usually, this concert is held on Fridays and Saturdays, with consecutive dates.

However, this time, Jazz Gunung is organizing an event for a full week with a series concept. The first series was held on Saturday, (19/7) with performances by Emptyyy, Jamie Aditya & The Mezzrollers, Kua Etnika, Love Is, Karimata, and concluded with a performance by RAN.

In this first series, the audience also enjoyed a performance by Papermoon Puppet Theatre. Jazz Gunung also held a Bromo Jazz Camp for young musicians with renowned mentors such as Sri Hanuraga and Hansen Arief, who then performed on the main stage in the second series alongside Natasya Elvira.

For the first time, Jazz Gunung presents a special show featuring Monita Tahalea. The singer, who rose to fame from Indonesian Idol, performed songs from her new album, MERONA, which was recently released.

Audience members attending throughout the week were also treated to an art exhibition from the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta. In addition, there was a UMKM bazaar featuring local products, ranging from batik to coffee and various snacks.

3. Attended by Thousands of Spectators

Thousands of spectators filled the Jiwa Jawa Bromo Resort Amphitheater during the second series. As the night went on, the seats were filled with audience members who came from various places.

Sal Priadi closed the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo in a very sweet way. Appearing with a theatrical concept featuring brief dialogues, Sal delighted his fans' ears with his songs. He performed 10 songs, from 'Dari Planet Lain' to 'Gala Bunga Matahari', which got many spectators singing along.

The musician, who has performed twice at Jazz Gunung, delivered his songs with a jazz touch, as he promised before taking the stage. "I am not a jazz musician, but I will bring a jazz vibe," he said.

The 16-degree Celsius temperature enveloping Bromo that night was capped off with the lively song 'Dalam Diam'. Sal invited all the spectators to stand and sing along with him before saying goodbye.
