Presenting a New Concept, BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo Closed by Sal Priadi in a Festive Manner

Kapanlagi.com - Presenting a series concept different from before, the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo event took place festively. The fog that filled the Jiwa Jawa Resort Bromo amphitheater since the afternoon did not diminish the enthusiasm of the audience to watch a lineup of performers scheduled for this second series.

A total of 6 performers filled the second series on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Starting from Lorjhu', Bintang Indrianto Trio, Natasya Elvira accompanied by Bromo jazz camp, Tohpati Ethnomission, Rouge to Sal Priadi who closed the concert in a festive manner.

The six performers presented music with different characters. Lorjhu' performed ethnic rock music with songs in the Madurese language, bringing a different atmosphere than usual. Meanwhile, Bintang Indrianto brought fusion music and Natasya Elvira sang standard jazz songs.

Tohpati Ethnomission warmed up the night with beautiful Nusantara ethnic music, while Rouge, a band from France, presented soulful contemporary jazz music. The night was closed with a performance by Sal Priadi, who performed contemporary pop songs that he rearranged with a jazz nuance.

1. Combine Jazz with Other Music

The six performers brought music with different characters. Lorjhu' performed ethnic rock music with songs in the Madurese language, bringing a different atmosphere than usual. Meanwhile, Bintang Indrianto presented fusion music and Natasya Elvira sang standard jazz songs.

The variety of music genres featured in the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo is one of the hallmarks of this concert, which has been held 17 times. Although it carries the name jazz, Jazz Gunung emphasizes that they have always come with a concept that is not 100 percent jazz.

"Jazz Gunung never claims we are 100 percent jazz either. Actually, our roots are in ethno-jazz, how we can combine ethnic, tradition with jazz music. Although we do have pop stars as well, we do not deny it, but we are proportional. That is what we maintain; we have programs for jazz musicians," said Bagas Indyatmono, Director of Jazz Gunung, during a press conference before the concert, on Saturday, (26/7).

2. Concept Series

This year 2025 also marks the Jazz Gunung event with a concept that is very different from before. Usually, this concert is held on Fridays and Saturdays, on consecutive dates.

However, this time, Jazz Gunung is hosting an event for a full week with a series concept. The first series took place on Saturday, (19/7) with performances by Emptyyy, Jamie Aditya & The Mezzrollers, Kua Etnika, Love Is, Karimata, and concluded with a performance by RAN.

During this first series, the audience also enjoyed a performance by Papermoon Puppet Theatre. Jazz Gunung also organized the Bromo Jazz Camp for young musicians with renowned mentors such as Sri Hanuraga and Hansen Arief, who then performed on the main stage during the second series alongside Natasya Elvira.

For the first time, Jazz Gunung presented a special show featuring Monita Tahalea. The singer, a graduate of Indonesian Idol, performed songs from her new album, MERONA, which was recently released.

Audience members attending throughout the week were also treated to an art exhibition from the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta. Additionally, there was a local SME bazaar featuring products ranging from batik to coffee and various snacks.

3. Attended by Thousands of Spectators

Thousands of spectators filled the Jiwa Jawa Bromo Resort Amphitheater during the second series. As the night progressed, the seats were filled with attendees from various places.

Sal Priadi closed the BRI Jazz Gunung Series 2 Bromo event very sweetly. Appearing with a theatrical concept featuring short dialogues, Sal delighted his fans with his songs. He performed 10 songs, from 'From Another Planet' to 'Gala Bunga Matahari,' which made many spectators join in singing.

The musician, who has performed at Jazz Gunung twice, delivered his songs with a jazz touch, as he promised before the show. "I am not a jazz musician, but I will bring a jazz vibe," he said.

The temperature of 16 degrees Celsius that enveloped Bromo that night was closed with the lively song 'Dalam Diam.' Sal invited all the spectators to stand and sing along with him before saying goodbye.
