Release of Debut Single, Farrel Hilal Admits to Being Inspired by the Hustle and Bustle of South Jakarta

Kapanlagi.com - Further establishing his presence in the Indonesian music industry, Farrel Hilal releases his debut single titled Di Selatan Jakarta (In South Jakarta). Not only did he act as the composer of the song, but this Jakarta-born man, born on November 27, 2000, also directly took on the role of producer.

For Farrel, there is no specific reason for choosing this song as his introduction to music lovers, he just feels that this song is the most relatable and relevant to the listeners.

"I enjoy driving around with my partner, and that's where the inspiration for this song came from. I wanted to capture the habit of Jakarta residents who like to ride vehicles to explore the city, whether it's private or public transportation," he explained in a recent written statement.

"Why South Jakarta? Because my whole life is here and I want to show that living in South Jakarta is exciting and varied. Here, we can fall in love, wander around during sunset, or visit iconic places even though all of that is sometimes accompanied by air or visual pollution," he added humorously.

Apparently, this song has been made by Farrel since 2022. From songwriting to demo production (including vocal takes), it only took two days. After being chosen as his debut single in 2024, this RnB and Soul music enthusiast did a vocal retake with the Sony Music team.

2. A Comfortable Home

"During the retake recording with SMEI, I not only sang the finished song, but also made slight modifications to some notations and tones, as well as added instruments to create a climax impression in this song," said Farrel.

With the release of 'Di Selatan Jakarta', Farrel wants people who listen to it to feel connected to his song.

"Besides that, I want to invite those who live, work, or enjoy visiting South Jakarta to accept any situation that exists. This city may not be perfect, but it will still feel like a comfortable home and welcome anyone who comes with open arms. Hopefully, this song can give an idea to people outside Jakarta about what South Jakarta is like," he concluded.
