Release of 'Hawa Surga', Terry Dedicates His Work to the Teacher

Kapanlagi.com - Singer Terryana Fatiah Shahab, also known as Terry, has released his latest single titled Hawa Surga. Interestingly, this song is inspired by and dedicated to all of his teachers, especially Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus.

A while ago, Terry lost his father. During that time, Terry was introduced to Ustadzah Halimah Alaydrus. From that meeting, Terry began to be able to accept the deep loss.

"When my father passed away some time ago, I felt lost. Thankfully, I was introduced to Ustadzah Halimah who helped me see that my way of looking at love was actually wrong. The mistake was not in what was around me, but in how I perceived the meaning of gratitude," he expressed.

"So, Hawa Surga is my expression of gratitude for the gift that Allah has given me, in the form of a teacher who always patiently guides me, and a better way of understanding the true meaning of love," he continued.

1. Do Not Plan to Release Single

Initially, Terry did not plan to release Hawa Surga. He and Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia had prepared a single cover to be released in the market. However, halfway through, Terry asked for time to create a new song and Hawa Surga was born. After being played to the label, they agreed to release Hewa Surga.

"There are some adjustments before recording, namely changes in the song and lyrics that are easier for listeners to sing, but not much. There are also lyrics that I try to interpret from the messages of my teacher in the chorus. Hopefully, that message is conveyed," Terry explained.

2. Terry's Challenges

The recording process for 'Hawa Surga' took three hours for the main vocals and backing vocals. However, for Terry, the challenge was not in how to internalize the song or singing technique. "So, during the recording in the studio, I was a little coughing. Then, when I was in the mood to start taking vocals, suddenly my throat felt itchy. It was like 'wow'," he said.

Not only that, Terry also hopes that this song will be well received and the message in the song will be conveyed. "Sometimes humans often make mistakes in the way they perceive love. True love is radiant, it doesn't blind the eyes or the heart. True love will guide us and shape us into better individuals," he hopes.

Terry's latest single, Hawa Surga, can be listened to on digital music platforms starting April 15, 2024.
