Viral Man Hits Female Motorcyclist Using a Guitar in Malang, Arrested

Kapanlagi.com - SG (52), a man suspected of assaulting several motorcyclists in Malang, has finally been arrested by the police. The perpetrator himself had previously experienced mental health problems and had been treated at a mental hospital.

A video of the perpetrator's actions went viral on various social media platforms when he hit a woman who was riding a motorcycle. A passing rider uploaded the incident to the internet, showing a crying woman after being hit by the guitar.

"We managed to apprehend the perpetrator after conducting an investigation and identification through the video circulating on social media," said Ipda Dicka Ermantara, the Public Relations Officer of Malang Police, on Sunday (14/4).

The chronology begins when the police conducted social media patrols to support Operation Ketupat Semeru 2024 during the Eid 2024 holiday season.

A video of a man assaulting two women who were passing by in the Pakisaji District area using a guitar. In the circulating video, one of the female passengers even got off the motorcycle and cried due to the blows delivered by the perpetrator.

2. Assaulted with a Guitar

The woman claimed to have been assaulted with a guitar on various parts of her body without any clear reason.

“After receiving complaints from the public on social media, we conducted an investigation by examining the crime scene and questioning witnesses,” he explained.

3. Incident in Front of Sugar Factory

The incident of assault occurred on Jalan Raya Depan Pabrik Gula Kebonagung, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency on Saturday (13/4/2024). The man involved is identified as SG (52), a resident of Jalan S Supriadi Gang VII, Sukun District, Malang City.

The elderly man was apprehended by the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of Malang Police on Sunday (14/4) early morning. The perpetrator was apprehended on the side of the road at Simpang Tiga Rumah Sakit Dr Soepraoen, Sukun District, Malang City.

4. Perpetrator Previously Experienced Mental Disturbance

A guitar, used as a tool for the assault, was also brought to the Pakisaji Police Station for further investigation. Based on the investigation results, it was found that the perpetrator SG had previously experienced mental disturbance and had been treated at Dr Radjiman Wediodiningrat Mental Hospital, Lawang District, in mid-2023.

This was proven by a medical certificate shown by one of SG's family members who was also interviewed.

5. Police Still Investigating Assault Case

The elderly person who lived alone is said to have not returned home for a long time and lived wandering on the streets. The family has tried to find him but did not know his whereabouts until the incident of the assault went viral.

The police are still investigating the case by conducting further investigation. The case has been handled by the investigators of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Pakisaji Police Station.

"The alleged perpetrator, SG, had received treatment at Dr. Radjiman Wediodiningrat Mental Hospital in Lawang, around May 2023," he added.
