Support Palestine, Alana Hadid Gigi Hadid's Sister Creates Watermelon Pictures Production House

Kapanlagi.com - Alana Hadid, the sister of Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid, has recently launched a production house claimed to be from Palestine. The production house is named Watermelon Pictures, which she considers as a symbol of creative resistance against the colonization experienced by Palestine.

As reported by Deadline, Watermelon Pictures is created and dedicated to empowering Palestinian filmmakers who have been unheard for a long time. With this production house, Palestinian filmmakers will have a new platform to voice their concerns.

1. Watermelon Pictures' Debut Project

In addition to launching a production house, Alana also released her debut film under the banner of Watermelon Pictures. Their debut film is a documentary project titled WALLED OFF.

The film tells the story of a hotel in Bethlehem, located across the wall separating the West Bank from Israel and managed by Palestinian residents. WALLED OFF showcases the lives of Palestinians living in that area and discusses the importance of creative resistance as a form of protest.

2. Anwar Hadid Participates

Not working alone, Alana, who originally works as a designer, also collaborates with several filmmakers. One of her siblings, Anwar Hadid, also took part in this project.

In the WALLED OFF project, Anwar Hadid serves as one of the producers alongside Roger Waters and Kweku Mandela. The director's chair is occupied by Vin Arfuso, an American filmmaker of Palestinian and Italian descent.

If everything goes smoothly, WALLED OFF will be screened in theaters on May 3, 2024. However, the film will have a limited release in theaters and digitally.
