To meet our daily needs, we need to socialize. At that time, my diploma was entrusted to a cigarette seller," revealed Tommy J Pisa.

"I used to live in Tanah Abang, precisely at Jati Baru Station, Tanah Abang Station. I gathered with people from Palembang at that time. blah blah blah when gathering with people from Palembang," he continued.

"I became a singer at that time and I signed a contract for three albums. It was cheap back then. Finally, to pay for my education, I studied at Jayabaya University, majoring in Economics. At that time, the tuition fee was 225,000 rupiah," he explained.

"I had a discussion before the album was released. My father's name is RM Thoyib, and Tommy Thoyib doesn't sound good. Finally, I came up with this because I used to be a fan of a blind singer named Jose Feliciano. So I took the name Tommy J Pisa, where the 'J' stands for Jose and Pisa refers to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Because that singer was born in Italy," he concluded.

Tommy J Pisa began his music career in 1981 with his debut album "Dia Yang Kutunggu" after the success of 4 albums by Ebiet G. Ade's Camellia.

In his first year, he didn't hold back and released two albums, namely, Cinta & Harapan and Biarkan Aku Menangis. Throughout his music career, Tommy J Pisa produced 20 music albums and two singles.
