Syazwan Shuhaimi Remakes the Song 'Puaskah' by Wali Band, Ready to Energize the Indonesian Music Industry

Malaysian singer, Syazwan Shuhaimi, is back to show his presence in the music world by releasing a remake of the hit song by Wali Band, Puaskah. Together with Positive Art Music, Syazwan is trying to penetrate the Indonesian music market with a captivating ballad genre. Here are the details.

"This is my first project with Positive Art Music. The boss of Positive Art told me that he used to be in Wali Band, and he gave me the idea," said Syazwan Shuhaimi when met in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/2/2025).

Syazwan explained that he was faced with several song choices before finally choosing Puaskah. The recording process for this song took place quite quickly in Kuala Lumpur. However, he admitted that a big challenge arose when he had to adjust his vocal character to match the distinctive voice of Faank, the vocalist of Wali Band.

"I chose Puaskah and was told to listen to it first. The lyrics are very deep. So the recording in Kuala Lumpur took only 2-3 hours. There was a slight challenge because Faank's character is strong. He has a very big vocal charm. That's why I had a vocal director to help me," explained Syazwan.

Although the song Puaskah is not as popular as other Wali works in Malaysia, Syazwan admitted he was interested in this song after seeing the huge response from fans in Indonesia. "Honestly, I initially hadn't heard this song. In Malaysia, this song is not as popular as other Wali songs. But I saw on YouTube, wow, it has been watched by over 20 million people," he revealed.

Not only re-recording songs, Syazwan also presents a music video for the remake version of Puaskah. He hopes this project will be accepted by Indonesian listeners, especially fans of Wali Band.

"I hope to be accepted by the people here, especially Wali fans. I know Wali has a very large fan base. I was a bit scared of complaints, but I just surrender," said Syazwan with a smile.

Syazwan Shuhaimi himself is not a new figure in the music industry. The singer, born in Kuala Lumpur on May 17, 1986, has released four hit singles during his career, namely Jika Itu, Sang Purnama, Cinta Tak Mengerti, and Cinta Ke Syurga. With strong musicality, he has captured public attention through his distinctive voice and dedication.
