Together with Lawang Pitu Band, Doddy Katamsi Releases Religious-Themed Metal Song

Kapanlagi.com - Singer and vocal coach, Doddy Katamsi, has formed a new rock band called Lawang Pitu, consisting of Doddy Katamsi (vocal), Tommy Karmawan (guitar), Saditriyo (guitar), Arif Rachman (drum) and ACC (bass). Lawang Pitu has released a new song titled Atas Nama under the music label ADK Records.

Actually, Lawang Pitu has prepared several songs. However, the song Atas Nama was chosen as Lawang Pitu's debut in the Indonesian music industry. Interestingly, the song Atas Nama itself has a strong religious nuance.

"There are several songs, but this one is the one that I, as the singer, prefer. This song is in accordance with what happened, according to my teachers, from the theater workshop. So, according to them, it represents what is happening around them or even in a larger environment," said Doddy Katamsi at Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta, Friday (1/4/2022).

1. Religious-Themed Metal Song

The song Atas Nama was written directly by Lawang Pitu's guitarist, Tommy Karmawan. In accordance with Lawang Pitu's metal genre, the song Yang Maha is different from other religious songs.

"Regarding the lyrics, I actually started with the riff first, what fits with the lyrics. I often write on my phone, and some of them are inspired by social media," said Tommy Karmawan.

2. Establishing a Record Company

Not only did Lawang Pitu establish a band, but they also built a recording label company called PT ADK (Asisi Doddy Katamsi). There are several singers and bands that have been under ADK Records, one of which is Orkes Moral Pengantar Minum Racun (OM PMR).

"Pak Azizi and I have known each other for a long time, and we often cover Metallica and other things. Actually, I had a plan to make a record label, but I couldn't handle it. I am an artist, and when artists get into business, things get messy," said Doddy Katamsi.

"So our collaboration is perfect, Pak Azizi is a professional artist, and we finally made PT ADK (Azizi Dody Katamsi). So, it is expected that ADK Records can accommodate artists' ideas, maybe they are not accepted elsewhere, but here they can," concluded Doddy Katamsi.
