Work on the New Album in Just 2 Weeks, Kerispatih Presents a Modern Sound to Attract Gen Z Listeners

Kapanlagi.com - There is an interesting story behind the birth of the latest album from Kerispatih, Fase Tiga. Who would have thought, the ten songs in this album were actually produced in an incredibly short time, much like the legend of Roro Jonggrang who built a temple overnight.

This fact was revealed by the members of Kerispatih during the album launch event at KFC Kemang Utara, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (13/8/2025). Arief Morada, the guitarist, admitted that this rapid process was a challenge from the label.

1. Evolution of Music

"There was a challenge from Mr. Rino (Formula Music), when offered I just said I could do it. In two weeks, everything happened, ten songs completed including mixing and mastering," explained Arief.

Not only about speed, Phase Three also marks an evolution in Kerispatih's music. If previous albums were heavily dominated by keyboard sounds, this time they give a larger portion to other instruments, especially the guitar.

"The previous album was dominated by keyboards. This third album or Phase Three is dominated by guitars and so on," said Fandy Santoso, the vocalist.

2. Strategic Steps

This change is a strategic step for Kerispatih to remain relevant and enjoyable for a younger generation of listeners. They consciously crafted their music with a more modern touch.

"The choice of sound is more or very modern, favored by Gen Z kids," added Arief.

However, they still maintain the authenticity of Kerispatih's music that has been embedded in the hearts of fans. The flagship single from this album, "The Best for You," is one of the proofs. The song tells the story of a relationship that has lost its feeling.

3. Loss of Feeling

"The lyrics I write, I see many people hear and also around us there are those who confide, they remain in a relationship but have lost their feelings. But one party fights and doesn't want to separate even though the situation is difficult. So love is a struggle," explained Fandy.

Anton Suryo, the drummer, also added that he tries to incorporate various rhythms from previous albums that have never been used, but with a simpler and fresher arrangement.

"From the rhythm of the music, Phase Three will feel like there are many parts that hopefully the music and its feeling will be different," concluded Anton.
