Remembering the Kindness of Mpok Alpa, Asri Welas: Her Blessings Became Blessings for the People Here

"This is just like with the neighbors, it's really sweet. The neighbor here is always helped monthly by her," said Asri Welas at the funeral home in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, Friday (15/8/2025).

Mpok Alpa's kindness has made many people around her home feel a sense of loss. Asri recounted that the deceased never hesitated to share what she had with those in need.

"So many people around here love her because whatever her fortune is, it becomes the fortune of the people around here," she said.

Mpok Alpa's generous nature is also accompanied by her extraordinary humility. The mother of three shared that her friend never complained when she had no money, but always shared when she had extra fortune. "So the goodness is, when she has no money, she doesn’t say anything, but when she has money, she shares it," explained Asri.

Behind all the laughter and kindness she spreads, Mpok Alpa turns out to be a very private person regarding her personal issues. Asri, who is very close to her, didn't even know that her friend was struggling with a serious illness.

"So she is indeed a person full of laughter, so she doesn't want to share perhaps the heavy stuff, the pain or sadness or what she feels. So, she doesn't even tell me," she said.

As a close friend of the family, Asri Welas took the opportunity to convey an apology. She represented the family in asking for forgiveness for all the mistakes made by the late during her lifetime. "Mpok Alpa and the family ask for forgiveness, both physically and spiritually, if there were any wrongs," she said.

Asri believes that all the good deeds done by Mpok Alpa will be her best provision. She hopes that the late woman's generosity during her lifetime will receive multiplied rewards from God. "So hopefully all her good deeds will be valued more, more, more by God," concluded Asri while offering a prayer.
