This is Hanung Bramantyo's Message to Investors After Watching 'MERAH PUTIH: ONE FOR ALL'

"Yes, I have to watch that movie because it wouldn't be fair if I only watched the trailer. So I watched it. But indeed, to me, as I suspected, the film is not yet finished being made," said Hanung when met in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, Thursday (14/8/2025).

"So I feel that it was too forced, forced to be shown, you know. So I don't know, I don't want to blame anyone, but what is clear is that what is in the cinema, especially in a cinema like XXI, is the final result. It is a statement from the director, from the filmmaker," he added. 

Technically, Hanung described the visual quality of the film as akin to a pre-visualization or mockup that is still very raw. "Earlier I saw there was interaction between humans and monkeys, you know. Oh, that means later as an animator I will have to create the monkey, you know. So this is a pre-visualization. It means it's still very early in the process after the script is done, it should look like this," he explained.

In fact, he compared it to his animated film ADIT SOPO JARWO THE MOVIE, which he believes is still far from perfect despite costing billions in production. He highlighted the very noticeable technical details on the big screen. 

"When it comes to the big screen, you can really see the tail, the fur on the monkey's tail was still very raw. Just like that," Hanung stated emphatically.

From here, Hanung Bramantyo delivered a poignant message directed straight to investors in the film industry. "I have a message for all creators who want to make films, especially the investors. Be careful when investing money. 6 billion is not a small amount, it's a lot," he explained.

He advises investors to be more selective in choosing creators who not only have passion but also proven credibility. According to him, the final result of the film MERAH PUTIH: ONE FOR ALL is not commensurate with the costs incurred, so it is reasonable for the public to be suspicious. 

"Don't blame the netizens if they see something fishy in this process. There is one dishonest thing here. Don't blame the netizens if we have such suspicions. Because the results are indeed not like that," he revealed.

Closing his view, Hanung provided a realistic time estimate to complete an animated film that meets broadcasting standards. "Oh, it can definitely be refined further. This is the time; it still needs another 2 to 3 years. That's how it is, indeed it takes 4 years right," he concluded.
