Kapanlagi.com - Together with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the Indonesian Music Award Foundation (YAMI) is making a breakthrough to protect Indonesian traditional musical instrument players and instruments in the digital era. They have launched AMI ETHNIC.
AMI ETHNIC is an information portal that presents various aspects of traditional musical instruments in Indonesia, including their types, history, how to play them, and where people can buy them.
According to Ahmad Mahendra, the Director of Film, Music, and Media at Kemendikbudristek, the presence of this website is expected to encourage traditional musical instrument players to advance their quality and compete in the global market.
"Through the AMI ETHNIC portal, traditional musical instrument players and producers can further develop their quality so that they are more popular among the public and other countries. The hope is that traditional musical instrument players can compete in the global music market in the digital era," said Ahmad Mahendra.

Furthermore, Ahmad Mahendra stated that until now, traditional Indonesian musical instruments are still admired by other countries. In addition, the presence of this page will provide knowledge for the younger generation to learn and recognize traditional Indonesian musical instruments.
“Preserving and spreading traditional musical instruments will provide great knowledge for future generations about the greatness of their ancestral cultural art. The preservation of traditional musical instrument heritage also proves that music has been a part of our ancestors' lives, shaping the distinctive cultural characteristics in each region,” said Ahmad Mahendra.

On the same occasion, the General Chairman of YAMI, Candra Darusman, stated that they wanted to introduce traditional music players and producers to the public, so they can be on par with industry musicians.
"AMI greatly appreciates the players and producers of traditional musical instruments as non-industry musicians, because of their contributions and dedication to Indonesian cultural art that should not be forgotten,” said Candra.
In the future, efforts to introduce this page will continue. The link to the AMI ETHNIC traditional musical instrument information portal will be disseminated to the official websites of the Indonesian Embassies in every country worldwide.
