YUHU. Releases Latest Single Titled 'Jajar Genjang'

Kapanlagi.com - After releasing the singles Sudah Sangat Rindu, Ragu Merayu, and the live mini album titled The Introduction in 2024, YUHU., a band consisting of Atmojo (vocals), Bemandry (vocals & bass), and Fammi (vocals & guitar), is back to introduce their latest work titled Jajar Genjang. The single was officially released today, Thursday (16/01), on many digital streaming platforms.

Atmojo stated that Jajar Genjang is the third studio single from YUHU. released to listeners since the band was formed in 2023. There is something different about YUHU.'s previous works, as Jajar Genjang was not written by the three band members, but by someone else.

“If we usually write our own songs for the songs to be released, now we are trying to perform a song written by another songwriter. Jajar Genjang itself was written by one of YUHU. Friends (the term for YUHU.'s listeners) who is also a songwriter and singer,” said Atmojo.

1. The Beginning of This Song's Discovery

One of the listeners of YUHU's work, who wrote Jajar Genjang, is named Jelaga Aksara. According to Atmojo, this song was discovered when Jelaga Aksara sang it while hanging out

with the members of YUHU. At that moment, all the members of YUHU were immediately attracted to the song.

“When we were hanging out together, we just said the song was nice. And unexpectedly, Aksa (the nickname for Jelaga Aksara) invited us to sing Jajar Genjang. We really wanted to perform such a nice song,” said Atmojo

2. About the Heartfelt Confessions of the Past

Jelaga Aksara expressed that Jajar Genjang is a work that documents his story with someone from the past. This song pours out the feelings he has experienced all this time, which makes him immersed in the nostalgia of a past story that is hard to forget. Everything feels complicated when he is faced with the reality he encounters today.

“It took me years to truly let go of that person from the past. And this song (Jajar Genjang) becomes an eternal monument that I dedicate to everything I felt with him. This song is an abstract form of the love I have for someone from the past, which feels like it will last forever for him,” said Jelaga Aksara.

3. Suitable for YUHU.

Initially, Jajar Genjang was to be sung by him as one of his solo music works. However, due to various reasons that did not find common ground, in a brief conversation with several members of YUHU., he decided to give Jajar Genjang to be one of the works sung by YUHU.

“I think this song will be better if performed by YUHU. Not only because this song is suitable for them, but I feel Jajar Genjang will have a much brighter future if sung by YUHU. I believe YUHU. will be big one day,” said Jelaga Aksara.

4. Challenging Work

Bemandry continued, with YUHU. singing Jajar Genjang, this can be said to be a quite challenging creative process. Because, if usually YUHU. records songs written by its members, now they are singing songs created by other songwriters.

“I don’t mean to belittle songs written by oneself. But for me personally, singing a song from another songwriter has its own challenges. During the recording process, I was quite nervous because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sing and convey the feelings in this song. Especially since Jajar Genjang is very personal for the songwriter,” explained Bemandry.

Fammi added that with the release of Jajar Genjang to music listeners, he hopes that the song can represent feelings of loss, yet still maintain the spirit to continue living.

“And I hope this song can be accepted by listeners everywhere. May this latest work from YUHU. be a source of motivation,” concluded Fammi.
