Emergency PPKM to be Gradually Opened, People are Asked to Maintain Health Protocols

However, the government reminds that compliance with health protocols and the performance coverage of the posts are important factors in the readiness of regions to face the gradual opening of the Emergency PPKM.

Awareness of Wearing Masks Increases

The compliance with wearing masks at the village level is quite good. This is proven by the percentage of villages that are not compliant, which is below 30% in seven provinces in Java and Bali.

Maintaining Distance is Still a Separate Challenge

Meanwhile, compliance with maintaining distance is still a challenge in many villages in DKI Jakarta, Central Java, and Banten. In these three provinces, more than 30% of the villages are not compliant in maintaining distance.

Results of the Emergency PPKM Post Performance Report

Looking at the coverage of the post performance reports, the majority of provinces have less than 50% of their posts reporting performance. These provinces are Central Java, West Java, East Java, and Banten.

"I appreciate DKI Jakarta, DIY, and Bali for already reporting the performance of more than 50% of the posts in their respective areas," said the spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito, on Thursday (22/7).

Reflecting on this, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito asked the Jakarta Provincial Government to increase the recovery rate and improve compliance with maintaining distance in villages in its area.

Meanwhile, the Central Java and Banten Provincial Governments need to reduce the mortality rate, improve compliance with maintaining distance in villages in their respective areas, and increase the reporting of post performance in the formed posts.

As for the West Java and East Java Provincial Governments, Prof. Wiku asks to reduce the death rate and improve the reporting of post performance in established posts. Meanwhile, for the DIY Government, it is asked to increase the recovery rate and reduce the death rate.

"To the Bali Government, I request to reduce the number of positive cases, deaths, and Bed Occupancy Ratio (BOR) for isolation," he said.

COVID-19 Recovery Rate Can Be Increased

Prof. Wiku added that the recovery rate can be increased and at the same time reduce the death rate. This can be done by handling COVID-19 patients as early as possible. In addition, it is also necessary to improve services in hospitals.

Contact tracing is also important, so that cases can be detected and treated immediately. The decrease in positive cases, BOR, and the number of villages or neighborhoods that do not comply with health protocols can still be pursued.

One way is to increase supervision and take firm action against violations of health protocols up to the village or neighborhood level. With prevention efforts, Prof. Wiku believes that transmission among the community can be controlled and cases can be suppressed.

The Performance of the Command Post Still Needs to be Improved

Lastly, the reporting of the command post's performance can be improved by ensuring the establishment of command posts in each village or sub-district. In addition, their functions also need to be carried out properly by all involved parties.

According to him, reporting the command post's performance is important to see whether the control of Covid-19 at the neighborhood level has been implemented properly or still needs improvement.

If all of these indicators can be immediately improved, it is not impossible that each region will be ready to gradually reopen without causing a significant increase in cases.

"Of course, this is the responsibility of all regional elements, namely the regional government and all layers of society, to ensure the readiness of their regions to face the gradual reopening," he said.
