Encouraging Digitalization, Governor of East Java Khofifah Inaugurates Shopee MSME Campus in Malang

Kapanlagi.com - Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa inaugurated Shopee MSME Campus in Malang. The campus was presented as a step to encourage and facilitate digitalization for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) players.

"The presence of this campus gives hope and new energy for MSME players in East Java to upgrade, become bigger, and expand their networks," said Khofifah at the Training Center of the Department of Cooperatives and MSMEs of East Java Province in Malang City, on Tuesday (12/4).

Khofifah emphasized that the main challenges in developing MSMEs are funding and marketing issues. The campus will facilitate digitalization for more MSME players in East Java Province, especially in Malang City and its surroundings.

1. Expanding Marketing Reach throughout Indonesia

Through the improvement of digital skills, MSMEs can further expand the marketing reach of their products throughout Indonesia, which can support economic development and increase employment opportunities.

"I am optimistic that there will be a leap in performance for MSME players when they have the confidence and understanding to go online and improve their marketing. If they are strengthened through networks like this, it feels like their world will open up," said Khofifah.

The Government of East Java Province collaborates with Shopee Indonesia by presenting Shopee MSME Campus in Malang. The location of the service is at the Training Center of the Department of Cooperatives and MSMEs of East Java Province in BTU Housing, Malang City.

Executive Director of Shopee Indonesia, Handhika Jahja expressed his commitment to MSME players and the general public. The campus in Malang is the 8th in Indonesia.

"Since May 2021, we have presented Shopee MSME Campus in various cities to help improve the digital skills of local MSMEs to be more competitive," he said.

2. Free Facilities for UMKM Entrepreneurs

The great potential of UMKM entrepreneurs continues to drive support for UMKM digital access, including in East Java. The presence of the UMKM Shopee Campus in Malang becomes a one-stop service for solutions for millions of local UMKM and can strengthen the digital ecosystem that will increase regional economic growth.

The campus will provide free facilities for UMKM entrepreneurs. They can participate in various classes provided by trained trainers. The training includes registering and creating a shop on Shopee, setting up shipping and seller center management, business development, how to optimize digital marketing systems, and business support features available on the Shopee application.

They will also receive assistance related to store administration and operations, including improving business performance and bookkeeping. In addition, free facilities are also available in the form of photo studios, live streaming rooms, meeting rooms, and product exhibition areas.

"They can come here to learn, network and take advantage of various facilities to improve their skills and even sales. Shopee is present as a partner of Indonesian UMKM to continue to be tough, grow, and create positive impacts," said Handhika.

The inauguration of the UMKM Shopee Campus in Malang was attended by representatives of the Head of Regions in Malang Raya. Seen present were Chair of Deskranada East Java Arumi Bachsin, Deputy Mayor of Malang Sofyan Edy Jarwoko, Mayor of Batu Dewanti Rumpoko and Deputy Regent of Malang, Didik Gatot Soebroto.
