Governor Khofifah: East Java is eligible to propose Regional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB)

Kapanlagi.com - East Java Province is considered eligible to propose Regional Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) regionally. This assessment is based on the study results of epidemiology experts from the Faculty of Public Health, Airlangga University, and the Epidemiology Team of Satgat Covid-19 East Java.

East Java Governor, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, said that all regencies and cities in East Java have confirmed the spread of Covid-19 or are categorized as red zones.

"If we refer to the epidemiology study by FK Unair, then East Java should be able to propose regional PSBB to the Minister of Health. That is the result of the epidemiology expert's study, allow us to coordinate again," said Khofifah in Malang City, Thursday (14/5).

1. Intensive Discussion

Khofifah admitted to having intensive discussions, including with territorial commanders and Forkopimda East Java who have been accompanying her.

"Of course, we will use the analysis from epidemiology experts as our input for a more comprehensive discussion before making any decisions," she explained.

Khofifah said that before submitting the PSBB proposal to the Minister of Health, the Provincial Government had already requested analysis from epidemiology experts. The expert team from FKM Unair and the Jatim Epidemiology Team.

The analysis results showed that all districts and cities in East Java are categorized as red or have been confirmed positive for Covid-19. They also looked at the doubling time, spread, local transmission, and average deaths in various areas and the regional province of East Java.

2. Maintaining Distance

Khofifah is in Malang to review the preparation for PSBB in Malang Raya, which will be implemented from Sunday (17/5) until May 30. One of the things Khofifah reviewed was the Klojen Market, which implements an odd-even trading system. On even dates, only traders with even numbers are allowed to sell, and vice versa on odd dates.

"Today is an odd date, tomorrow is for even-numbered traders. This is a process of maintaining a safe distance," she emphasized.

Khofifah said that after the process of understanding by the community, implementation is needed in villages starting from the neighborhood unit (RT/RW). It is hoped that this will soon stop the spread of Covid-19.
