Kapanlagi.com - A makeup artist (MUA) from Malang, Julia Maria (40), recently performed a heroic act that deserves appreciation. The story goes that she was on her way from Jakarta to accompany her daughter who was participating in a fashion show. During the flight, about 30 minutes from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, a female passenger suddenly experienced contractions and was about to give birth.
Julia, who witnessed this, did not stay silent. She took the initiative to help the woman. Julia even used emergency equipment, namely a prayer mat belonging to a flight attendant, to clean the baby's blood.
"At that time, we needed fabric, so we used the flight attendant's prayer mat. The flight attendant offered it, and we used it. I asked for a pair of gloves, and at that time everything was available, including scissors to cut the baby's umbilical cord," said Julia Maria in Malang on Wednesday (27/6).
After investigating, it turns out that the woman who was giving birth was traveling alone on a Pelita Air plane on Tuesday (27/6) yesterday.
Julia herself admitted that she did not know the woman, but was moved when the flight attendant announced that they needed a nurse to help with the delivery. After some time passed and no one responded, Julia took the courage to help the woman.
"I entrusted my child to the passenger in the next seat. I said, 'Mommy wants to help someone giving birth in the back,'" she explained.
Julia described that all the passengers on the plane seemed tense. She herself tried to stay calm and reassure the woman who was about to give birth.
"As soon as the baby was born, all the passengers applauded. It was as if a new family member had arrived in their family," she recounted.
Some passengers were touched because the delivery went smoothly. The baby was a girl, and as soon as they landed, an ambulance was ready to take them to the hospital.

Julia tells the story of a woman whose name is still unknown, who gave birth on a plane in the back row of seats. At that time, the passenger conditions were also very crowded.
Because of that, some passengers were asked to stand, especially in the three seats at the back that were soon emptied. The flight attendant at that time quickly put up a curtain just to cover it up so it wouldn't be seen.
Â
"Everyone panicked, someone fanned. Basically, to calm down and concentrate the mother," she said.
Julia herself was not confident enough to help, but because she had given birth before, she dared to do it. In addition, she often accompanies her sister who happens to be a midwife.
"I often accompany my sister, who is a midwife. Besides that, I have also seen a movie, similar to the story," she said firmly.
Julia admitted that she did not take off her sunglasses to avoid direct eye contact with blood. This way, she could endure nausea or similar symptoms while providing assistance.
"Actually, it takes courage, because this is an emergency," she said firmly.
Julia also chose to provide assistance directly in the seat where the woman was sitting. She was afraid that something might happen if she was moved to another seat.
"Yes, directly in that seat, just with a curtain. Because the marriage contract was already broken, she was immediately laid on the bench in that row of three," she said.
Julia admitted that she asked the flight attendant for warm water and requested to raise the temperature of the air conditioning, which felt very cold at the time. Not long after, the baby girl was born safely.
"I didn't ask her to push, then I cut the umbilical cord. We had to cut it and tie it as tightly as possible, then cut it," she explained.
Julia felt relieved when she successfully held the baby girl. She carried the baby, cleaned her, and took her to the ambulance.
Julia considered it a once-in-a-lifetime experience. She received greetings from other passengers, and some people even sent her videos of the incident.
