Liputan6 Connect Partners with AksiKitaIndonesia to Provide Digital & Climate Education to Unika Atma Jaya Students

This time, Liputan6.com collaborates with AksiKitaIndonesia at Unika Atma Jaya Jakarta on November 26, 2025, with the theme Mastering Digital Literacy & Creative Content.

Through this activity, students are invited to enhance their digital literacy skills while understanding how to create informative, credible, and relevant content for today’s audiences, especially in the face of misinformation and disinformation on social media. Issues surrounding deforestation and climate change, which are increasingly relevant, will be discussed, with AksiKitaIndonesia actively encouraging the audience on social media to voice their opinions and take action in the real world.

With over 750 thousand followers, known as 'Sobat Aksi', AksiKitaIndonesia serves as a platform for young people that combines environmental topics with the power of creative storytelling. AksiKitaIndonesia is also actively raising content related to misinformation/disinformation regarding climate and green lifestyles, while maintaining quality journalism as a platform managed by BBC Media Action.

Adyaksa Vidi, Fact-Checker of Liputan6.com, explains how fact-checking plays a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy of information amidst the fast-moving and limitless flow of digital content. He outlines the differences between misinformation, disinformation, and hoaxes commonly found on various platforms, where all three have different forms and purposes but can potentially mislead if not recognized correctly.

Vidi also demonstrated the steps in the fact-checking process, starting from tracing the origin of information, using reverse image search to verify photos, to methods for identifying AI-generated content that is increasingly difficult to visually distinguish.

According to him, the ability to filter information, read patterns of deception, and get accustomed to verifying facts has become an essential skill so that the public is not easily trapped by digital manipulation.

2. The Difference Between Misinformation and Disinformation

Meanwhile, AksiKitaIndonesia representative Jimmi Silitonga explained how environmental issues are often wrapped in inaccurate information and narratives that are deliberately directed to create certain perceptions. He outlined the fundamental differences between misinformation and disinformation, how both spread in different patterns, and their impact on how the public understands climate change.

Jimmi also encouraged participants to be more critical in assessing the news that circulates, including verifying sources, comparing data, and recognizing patterns of content manipulation that often appear on social media.

3. An Engaging Discussion Session

This discussion session, led by Queen Annisaa Suryasumirat, became even more interesting with the presence of Guff Perdana, a content creator who provided additional perspectives and expanded the understanding of how climate change issues circulate, are understood, and responded to in the digital space. Guff also shared experiences and tips on producing and managing effective social media content.

Representing Unika Atma Jaya, Dr. Nia Sarinastiti, M.A. expressed appreciation for the collaboration between Liputan6.com and AksiKitaIndonesia that is available for Atma Jaya students. She views this activity as a valuable opportunity for students to learn directly about media literacy, changes in digital information consumption patterns, and how to understand public issues from a more critical perspective, directly from industry practitioners.

4. Opportunity to Dialogue with Speakers

In addition to the presentation session, this event also provides participants with the opportunity to engage directly in dialogue with the speakers. All participants receive an e-certificate as a form of appreciation for their participation.
