Management and Workers of HM Sampoerna Factory in Malang Conduct Rapid Test for Covid-19

Kapanlagi.com - HM. Sampoerna cigarette factory in Jalan Karya Barat, Malang City, was visited by the Mayor of Malang, Sutiaji. The visit was also accompanied by rapid tests for 22 management and labor personnel as a sampling.

"We brought 22 packages of rapid test tools to be used for sampling on management and labor personnel to quickly determine their current condition. Alhamdulillah, the results are all non-reactive or negative," said Sutiaji, Monday (4/5).

As known, employees of HM. Sampoerna cigarette factory in Kali Rungkut Surabaya were exposed and became a new cluster of Covid-19. The total number of employees who tested positive is 65 people, and 2 of them have died.

1. Prevent the Emergence of New Clusters

In order to prevent the emergence of new clusters similar to the cases in Surabaya, Sutiaji visited and conducted rapid tests at PT. HM Sampoerna factory in Malang. The aim is to monitor and quickly determine the situation.

"We conducted this visit to prevent the emergence of new clusters in Malang City, similar to those in Surabaya," he said.

Sutiaji urged the management of PT. HM Sampoerna to conduct rapid tests for its 2,908 employees in Malang. However, due to financial reasons, it is not possible for the Malang City Government to bear the cost of rapid tests for thousands of employees.

"Because we cannot handle all of that with our limited facilities," he said.

2. Sutiaji Gives Appreciation

Sutiaji also appreciates PT. HM Sampoerna for its role in helping the Malang City Government in tackling the spread of Covid-19. At the same time, their efforts to implement health protocols within the factory.

The Mayor emphasizes that workers should continue to maintain their immunity by consuming nutritious food and taking vitamins. "Moreover, the factory has provided various facilities for that purpose," he added.

3. Motivation for Workers

During his visit, Sutiaji took the time to greet the traders around the factory and urged them to follow health protocols. He also greeted the workers and gave them a motivational message to stay enthusiastic and vigilant against the spread of Covid-19.

"I hope all workers will comply with the existing health protocols with discipline. Equally important is the awareness to be honest with oneself, if feeling sick or have recently traveled to virus-exposed areas. With this awareness, workers can practice self-quarantine," he said.

Also present accompanying the Vice Mayor of Malang, Sofyan Edi Jarwoko, the Secretary of Malang City, Wasto, Acting Head of Health Department, Sri Winarni, Head of Public Relations, Nurwidianto, and Secretary of BPBD, Lita Irawati.
