This statement arose from a study that used data from COVID-19 patients in two areas in China, namely the cities of Wuhan and Shenzhen. The study linked patients exposed to the COVID-19 virus with blood types.

It started when China reported nearly 2,200 COVID-19 patients, and after conducting research, it was observed that patients with blood type A had a higher percentage, which is 38 percent. In comparison, the data for blood type O was lower at 25 percent.

Therefore, a journal reported and concluded that blood type A has a higher risk of contracting COVID-19, while blood type O has a lower risk based on the percentage.

According to Pediatric Respirology Consultant at FKUI RSCM, Dr. Nastiti Kaswandani, they explained that the 25 percent figure for blood type O is not a small number. The study is a preliminary study and its results cannot be applied immediately. This means that if someone has blood type A, there is no need to panic excessively. Conversely, if someone has blood type O, they should not be too relaxed.
