Residents Can't Wait for the Excitement of Bontang City Carnival

Kapanlagi.com - In front of the Ramayana intersection, Bontang, East Kalimantan, Hendra parked his motorcycle. The excitement of the preparations for the Bontang City Carnival (BCC) made him stop for a moment to enjoy the sunset atmosphere on Friday (10/20/2023).

The young man who works at a mining company was engrossed in watching the marching band group practicing for their performance tomorrow.

Hendra then took out his cellphone and occasionally took photos.
“I can't wait to watch the carnival tomorrow,” he said.

Dozens of Bontang Residents Show Enthusiasm

Hendra is not alone. Dozens of Bontang residents also appeared enthusiastic in filling the intersection. Some two-wheeled vehicles also stopped to see the crowd.

Some road lanes in front of the shopping center have indeed been closed. Several police personnel were seen guarding the carnival preparations.

“This is one of the excitement in the city of Bontang that shouldn't be missed. One of my friends is a carnival participant, and I am a spectator,” Hendra said.

Intentionally Returning Home to See Bontang City Carnival

Unlike Indah, a student at a state university in Samarinda, who intentionally returned home to witness the Bontang City Carnival. The woman who graduated from high school two years ago didn't want to miss the excitement in her hometown.

“I came home to watch the BCC. Because it's only held once a year,” she said.

Although she had to travel 3 hours by motorcycle from the capital of East Kalimantan, Indah didn't mind. Most importantly for him to enjoy the carnival in commemoration of the anniversary of Bontang City.

The Head of the Department of Education and Culture of Bontang City, Bambang Cipto Mulyono, stated that seats are provided for the audience. The long seats are installed next to the Office of the Department of Revenue of Bontang City.

“We want the audience to be more comfortable enjoying the carnival and cultural dances,” said Bambang.

The Bontang City Carnival 2023 with the theme of Great Creativity, Harmonious Cultured Civilization will be held on Saturday (21/10/2023) morning. There will be 35 participants for the carnival and 60 participants for the cultural parade.
