Saiful Anwar Hospital in Malang Prepares 40 Special Medical Personnel to Handle Suspected Corona Patients

Kapanlagi.com - Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) in Malang has been designated as one of the referral centers for suspected corona patients. The hospital has prepared a team of doctors from various disciplines, including the necessary medical facilities.

"As a team, we have been formed through the Director's decree. We have made preparations. We have rooms that were previously used for bird flu, there are 5 rooms to accommodate 5 patients," said Dr. Rezki Tantular, Secretary of the Emergency and Re-Emergency Infectious Disease Team at Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) in Malang, on Monday (1/27).

However, Reski clarified that if the number of referred patients exceeds the capacity of those rooms, other isolation rooms will be prepared. Meanwhile, room 29 will be used to accommodate the patients.

1. Isolation Room with a Capacity of 23 People

RSSA has a room with 23 beds that can be used. This number includes isolation rooms in case a patient is found positive.

"The room consists of isolation rooms, because it takes 2-3 days to wait for the patient to be declared positive and sent to BBLK. There is a suspect room, a probable room, a positive room, and if there is a respiratory failure, there is an ICU for positive viruses," he explained.

The entire team consists of 30-40 medical personnel, including doctors. The doctors come from various medical disciplines and must wear special astronaut-like clothing while in the room.

"If the team consists of around 30 doctors, with various disciplines, including pulmonologists, pediatricians, internists, anesthesiologists, microbiologists, radiologists, clinical pathologists, pharmacists, nutritionists, and others. We are one team including nurses, 30-40 people," he explained.

2. Conducting Simulation

The entire team has conducted simulations from patient admission to treatment. The simulation is aimed at preparing special treatment for patients with special effects.

RSSA will take blood samples from referred suspected patients and then conduct examinations at the Balai Besar Laboratorium Kesehatan (BBLK) in Surabaya. It takes 2-3 days to confirm that the suspected patient is positive.

However, from the time the patient is admitted until being declared positive, isolation will be carried out with special facilities. RSSA itself has been designated as one of the referral hospitals for suspected corona in East Java, in addition to dr Soedono Madiun Hospital and dr Soetomo Surabaya Hospital.
