Victims Dragged by Waves at Long Beach in Malang Found in Tulungagung, Two Others Still Missing

Kapanlagi.com - Ana Brieva Ramirez (23), a Spanish student who was swept away by waves on the south coast of Malang Regency, managed to survive by clinging to a board. She had to survive on an uninhabited island while waiting for help to come.
Dr. Aurick Yudha Nagara, a member of the Medical Faculty of Brawijaya University (FKUB) Malang, said that Ana claimed to have tried to save herself from the fierce waves by maintaining her calmness. She held onto a floating board to avoid drowning.
"Ana claimed to have survived after swimming to the uninhabited beach and tried to survive until sunrise by making a sand hole to sleep in, and she slept on the beach overnight," said Aurick, who was on duty at the scene, on Sunday (10/10).

Ana said she saw a flashlight on the beach. After morning, Ana tried to seek help by walking along a small trail for four to five hours. Finally, she met a resident and was taken to a post.
"We continued the examination and treatment at the Bantur Health Center due to Ana's moderate dehydration and the treatment of her injuries," Aurick emphasized.
Currently, Ana is receiving intensive care at RSUB after previously being treated at the Bantur Health Center. Meanwhile, the search and rescue operation for the other 3 victims is still ongoing along the coastline.

Ana BR was participating in a student exchange program at the Faculty of Medicine, Brawijaya University (FK UB). She experienced an incident of being swept away by waves while on vacation at Jembatan Panjang Beach, South Malang.
The incident occurred while Ana was enjoying the beach atmosphere with her friends on Saturday (8/7). Suddenly, a big wave hit the beach and Ana was swept away by a strong current along with 4 other people (2 foreigners and 3 locals).
Previously, Muhammad Ruspandi (24) was found alive by the South Beach Rescue SAR team. He was found floating in the sea 0.5 miles from the incident location.
