Still Well-Maintained, the Slides in Selecta Batu Swimming Pool are Almost a Century Old

Almost a century old, the slide board in Selecta swimming pool still retains its original form, since 1930, two years after Selecta was inaugurated. The dimensions of this slide board are 15 meters high and 30 meters long. The authenticity of this slide board is shown in the series of iron constructions that support the slide board.

Meanwhile, this slide board is made of ulin wood coated with smooth aluminum, so it won't feel hot when the skin touches the aluminum, KLovers. However, the wooden part of the slide board is not an old relic because it needs to be replaced periodically to remain sturdy.

The diving board on the other side is also a heritage from the Dutch era. The construction style and raw materials used are the same as the slide board, KLovers.

"Although it is old, it doesn't mean it's not safe. We always perform regular checks and maintenance to ensure its safety. The ulin wood board was last replaced in 2022,'' said Pramono, the Director of PT Selecta, on Sunday (6/8).

Selecta decided to preserve the old slide board despite the modern era. Pramono believes that such things become a unique attraction because they cannot be found elsewhere.
