This Year Kasada Ceremony Held, But Only For Tengger Tribe - Bromo Has Not Received Tourists

Kapanlagi.com - This year's Yadya Kasada or Kasada traditional ceremony can only be attended by local Tengger tribe residents. The annual Tengger tribe traditional ceremony, which has become an international tourist agenda, is held with visitor restrictions.

Kasada is a traditional ceremony offering to Sang Hyang Widhi and the ancestors of the Tengger tribe. A series of ceremonies are held every 14th day of Kasada month in the Javanese calendar, which falls on July 6-7, 2020 this year.

The Public Relations of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (BB TNBTS) revealed that the Kasada ceremony will be held as a traditional ceremony for the local community, on July 6-7, 2020.

"Kasada will still be held considering it is a ritual of the Tengger community that is carried out every year. This year, it is limited only to the Tengger community," said Syarif Hidayat, Public Relations of BB TNBTS in Malang, Thursday (11/6).

1. Bromo Has Not Yet Opened for Tourists

The Bromo Tourism Area itself has been closed since March 19, 2020, until an unknown time. The closure is in line with the declaration of a non-natural disaster, namely the Covid-19 pandemic, by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

According to Syarif, the Bromo Tourism Area will not be opened until further notice. Coordination is being carried out with the Central Government through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (LHK), especially regarding tourism in the New Normal.

"We are still coordinating and waiting for directions, instructions, and steps for the opening of tourism in the New Normal from Jakarta," he said.

2. Joint Agreement

TNBTS will also coordinate with the Provincial Government and District Governments (Pemda) that support the area, namely Malang, Pasuruan, Lumajang, and Probolinggo.

"The agreement and recommendations of the provincial and district governments (Pemprov and Pemda) as well as the Covid-19 task force are also very important and are our concern regarding protocols and the commitment of all parties," he explained.

3. Do Not Include Kasada in the Tourist Agenda

The interim meeting between the indigenous community and stakeholders of Probolinggo Regency agreed that the Kasada ceremony will be held closed to the public. The ceremony will be conducted in accordance with Covid-19 health protocols.

The usual inauguration event held at Pendopo Agung is temporarily canceled. The entrance to Mount Bromo is closed starting from the Sukapura area, and only local residents are allowed to enter by showing their ID cards.

The Kasada event is also not promoted as a tourist agenda by the Tourism Office. Tourists are not allowed to come with the hope that the religious event is specifically held for the Tengger community.

Meanwhile, the Community Health Center will be involved during the implementation of the event to anticipate any unwanted incidents.
