UN Canceled, Minister Urges Learning from Home to Continue

Kapanlagi.com - The Corona pandemic has brought many impacts in daily life, including in the field of education. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the National Exam or UN has been canceled. However, it does not mean that students stop learning.

On the contrary, learning from home must continue so that students do not stop acquiring new knowledge. This was directly conveyed by the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), Nadiem Anwar Makarim, through Circular Letter Number 4 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Education Policies during the Emergency Period of the Spread of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

The figure often referred to as the Minister hopes that learning from home can be a meaningful process for teachers and students. In addition, Mendikbud emphasizes that online learning does not have to cover all curriculum achievements for grade promotion or graduation.

Instead, online learning focuses on improving students' understanding of the Corona virus and the COVID-19 outbreak. Learning activities and assignments can vary among students, according to their interests and individual conditions, including gaps in access and learning facilities at home.

Furthermore, evidence or products of learning activities are given qualitative and useful feedback from teachers, without the need to provide scores or quantitative grades.

“Although many schools implement learning from home, it does not mean that teachers only give assignments to their students. They also participate in interaction and communication to help their students with their tasks. Please, even though working from home, please guide our students," explained the Minister of Education.

Not forgetting, Minister also advised that regions ensure the security of the learning process in their respective areas.

"We want to recommend that for areas that have implemented remote learning, ensure that the teachers also teach from home to ensure the safety of the teachers, it is very important," Nadiem said.

The Minister of Education also added that they are currently trying to obtain data subsidies for students and teachers, in order to facilitate online learning during this Corona pandemic.

"We are currently and continuously cooperating with various telecommunications companies to provide data subsidies for students and teachers who are conducting online learning," he added.

As additional information, the cancelled National Examinations (UN) are no longer a requirement for graduation or entering higher levels of education, according to the Ministerial Decree. Instead, the mechanism is based on evaluation by teachers and graduation from school in accordance with the National Education System Law (Sisdiknas).
