Viral Story of Village Chief in Malang Who Died While Conducting Wedding Ceremony

Kapanlagi.com - A village chief in Malang collapsed and died while conducting the marriage ceremony of the two newlyweds. The video of the moment when the deceased struggled to fulfill his duty went viral on social media.

According to Merdeka.com, the deceased was Supaat, a resident of Benel Hamlet, Baturetno Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency. Supaat himself was a local village official and also a village chief who often conducted wedding ceremonies or led the marriage vows.

Supaat collapsed while leading the marriage vows at the house of his neighbor, Supriyadi, which was about 200 meters away. The deceased was suspected to have suffered a stroke while conducting the marriage ceremony.

"While leading the marriage vows, he asked my son how much the dowry was. At that time, he was already having difficulty (stuttering) repeating Rp 200,000," explained Supriyadi while imitating the deceased at his home in Benel Hamlet, Baturetno Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency, on Monday (31/1).

Initially, Supriyadi and the invited guests thought that Supaat was nervous, but it was impossible as it was his daily job. One guest even asked him to calm down and offered him mineral water.

Supaat's speech at that time was slurred and unclear, he touched his forehead several times and even put his head on the table. The deceased asked Supriyadi, who was in front of him, to wipe or pat his face.

After being wiped, Supaat felt that his legs were weak because he was sitting cross-legged. While trying to straighten his legs, the deceased collapsed towards a guest.

Supaat collapsed to the left and briefly fell on a guest who was carrying a baby. The deceased's head fell or hit the lap of the guest.

A guest took the initiative to guide and recite istigfar in his ear, while providing assistance by taking him to the hospital.

Supaat's family revealed that the deceased passed away after being treated in the hospital. The deceased was unconscious, critical, and declared dead on Monday (31/1) around 01.30 AM.

"When he was in the hospital, he was unconscious, critical at around 01.00 AM, and passed away at 01.30 AM," said Miskan, Supaat's younger brother at the funeral home.

Supaat's house was still filled with mourners expressing their condolences until Monday (31/1) evening.
