Kapanlagi.com - YouTube officially implements a new policy starting July 15, 2025, which significantly changes monetization rules, especially for content created using artificial intelligence (AI).
In its official announcement, YouTube stated that video content produced automatically by AI without clear human creative contribution will no longer qualify for monetization.
This policy has shocked many content creators, especially those who have relied on AI to quickly and mass-produce videos. This was confirmed by YouTube Head of Editorial & Creator Rene Ritchie, who mentioned that this change is made to maintain the integrity of content and user experience on the platform.
The background of this policy is closely related to the surge of low-effort AI video content flooding the platform in recent months. According to Fortune Indonesia, this phenomenon has raised concerns from YouTube that the quality of content on the platform will decline drastically.
Moreover, advertisers are starting to doubt the effectiveness of their ad placements if they continue to appear in such videos. The potential loss of advertiser trust has become one of the main factors for YouTube to tighten these rules.

This new policy explicitly mentions several types of content that will no longer be monetizable. Among them are videos with narratives that are entirely generated by AI without human commentary or opinion, slideshow videos or stock footage without context or interpretation, as well as repetitive compilation content that does not undergo creative transformation.
Even news and documentary content that is entirely created by AI is included in the prohibited category. According to Kompas, if creators repeatedly violate these rules, they could lose their YouTube Partner Program (YPP) status and be permanently removed from the monetization scheme.

However, behind this strict policy, there is a positive side that can bring significant benefits to the YouTube ecosystem and its viewers. Viewers are now more likely to discover original content created with genuine effort and creativity from creators. This is expected to revive the spirit of authentic creation on the platform while also strengthening audience engagement.
YouTube itself states that the use of AI is still allowed, as long as the end result is a work that has been enhanced by human input, such as through editing, commentary, or analysis.

Adhib Mujaddid, Head of Multimedia at KapanLagi Youniverse, welcomes this new YouTube regulation.
"We welcome this rule, because it is actually good for content creators like us, and also good for YouTube viewers. Because the content being watched will be filtered from the start. Every content on YouTube should indeed go through many creative processes, not just full auto or AI," he stated in a written statement on Thursday (17/7).
"We always strive to provide the best. Presenting valid news after going through a curation process, including going directly to the field, of course, even bringing sources directly to our studio," he continued. Adhib also mentioned that the new YouTube regulation will serve as natural selection for the content ecosystem.

AI still has a place in the creative process, but now its role is more as an assistant rather than the main creator. For example, AI can be used to draft scripts, find references, or assist with editing, but not as a tool to create entire videos without human intervention.
Some types of content that have heavily relied on AI include educational videos with AI voice-overs, movie reviews that are entirely read by AI, and countdown/top 10 content that only uses stock images and artificial voices. All of this has the potential to no longer earn revenue from YouTube if not adjusted to the new policies.
This policy has sparked diverse reactions from YouTube creators in Indonesia. Some welcomed it positively, feeling that this is an important step to maintain the quality and sustainability of the creator ecosystem. However, there are also those who are worried, especially those who have been using AI to save production time.
According to Katadata & Butota, some have stated that this regulation is still too broad and could ensnare creative content that uses AI as a tool, rather than as the main instrument. For example, reaction or commentary videos that are still edited with human narration, but because they use AI visuals, could also be affected if YouTube does not clarify the boundaries.
Overall, this policy serves as a warning to all YouTube users that originality and creativity remain the main keys in the digital content world.
