Alia Bhatt Cancels Debut at Cannes 2025 Due to India - Pakistan War

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is reported to not attend the Cannes Film Festival 2025 due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Although there has been no official confirmation, Alia's team is said to be monitoring the situation at the border and reconsidering her attendance.

Alia was supposed to appear at Cannes as a Global Ambassador for L'Oréal Paris. She was scheduled to attend alongside several global celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Viola Davis, Jane Fonda, Aja Naomi King, Andie MacDowell, Simone Ashley, Elle Fanning, Bebe Vio, and Yseult. However, due to the escalating political conditions, she has chosen not to attend for the time being.

A source told India Today, “Alia made this decision because the situation at the border is sensitive. She feels this is not the right time to appear at Cannes. But that doesn’t mean she won’t go at all. If the situation improves, she may reschedule.”

Amid the escalating conflict, Alia wrote a touching message for the Indian soldiers coinciding with Mother’s Day. She shared her heartfelt thoughts about the tense atmosphere lately.

"The last few nights have felt... different. There is a silent calm as a nation holds its breath. There is a quiet anxiety. The pulse of tension felt in every conversation, news notification, and dining table. We know that up in the mountains, our soldiers are on guard in danger," Alia wrote on her social media.

Alia also reminds us of the sacrifices of the soldiers. "While we sleep at home, they stand guard in the darkness. This is not just bravery, this is sacrifice. Behind every uniform, there is a mother who also cannot sleep," she wrote.

"On Mother's Day, when many people celebrate with flowers and hugs, I think of the mothers who raise the heroes. They carry pride with incredible strength," Alia further wrote.

She closed her message with a tribute to the victims and their families. "We mourn the soldiers who have fallen and will not return. May their families be given strength by the gratitude of the entire nation," she concluded.
