Lilie Wijayanti passed away at the Summit of Cartensz - Papua on Saturday (1/3). She was known as a veteran climber. Her achievement of conquering the highest peak in Indonesia was accomplished at the age of 60. Lilie was also a designer who often created beautiful dresses. Here is a brief overview of Lilie.
Her full name is Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono, Lilie was born in Malang, October 2, 1965. She is noted to have attended SMA Dempo before then undergoing military education at Susbintal Pusdikhub Cimahi.
She then joined the Telkom service bond and started working at Telkom at the age of 23. At the age of 25, Lilie decided to get married. From this marriage, she was blessed with 2 children.
Since she was young, Lilie has enjoyed climbing. She has successfully conquered several mountain peaks in Indonesia and abroad, such as Mount Semeru, Dukono, Marijang, and Sindoro. According to Tribunnews, Lilie has even managed to climb the 7 highest mountain peaks in Indonesia.
In May 2024, Lilie was known to have just married off her youngest child in Singapore. She was very happy, even designing her daughter-in-law's wedding dress herself.
Both of Lilie's sons live abroad. The eldest lives in Japan, while the youngest resides in Singapore. She started climbing mountains again diligently at the age of 50 when her children had grown up and become independent.
Lilie is also a content creator. Yes, even though she is no longer young, Lilie is quite close to the world of social media. Her content is very inspiring, spreading an undiminished spirit in her old age.
Lilie passed away along with Elsa, her friend since junior high school. Both of them died during their descent from the Cartensz Pyramid peak due to indications of acute mountain sickness (AMS).
