8 Aggravating Points for Nikita Mirzani Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison, Prosecutor Reveals List of Offenses

The 11-year prison sentence imposed on Nikita Mirzani is certainly not a number that just appeared. In a hearing held at the South Jakarta District Court on Thursday (9/10/2025), the Public Prosecutor (JPU) clearly laid out a long list of considerations that formed the basis for the heavy charges.

A series of points deemed aggravating for the artist commonly known as Nyai were read one by one in front of the panel of judges. These points include her actions in the alleged extortion and money laundering case as well as her attitude during the trial process.

The prosecutor assessed that Nikita's actions not only harmed the victim personally, but also caused unrest in the wider community. Not stopping there, the attitude displayed by this mother of three during the court proceedings also became a sharp focus.

In detail, the prosecutor outlined eight strong grounds for prosecuting her with the maximum penalty. Ranging from the impact of her actions to her legal track record in the past.

"Aggravating circumstances: the defendant's actions damaged the reputation and dignity of others, the defendant's actions caused national-scale unrest, the defendant has benefited from the crime, the defendant did not behave respectfully in court, the defendant was evasive in court, the defendant did not acknowledge her actions, the defendant has been previously convicted, the defendant does not respect the court proceedings," said the prosecutor during the trial.

If broken down, the list of Nikita's "sins" in the eyes of the prosecutor is very serious. The accusation that she has enjoyed the proceeds of crime indicates the presence of material gains obtained from the alleged criminal acts.

In addition, her attitude, which was assessed as uncooperative, such as being evasive, not acknowledging her actions, and being rude, became a significant red flag. This seems to indicate a lack of remorse from the defendant.

The fact that Nikita Mirzani had been previously convicted also serves as a significant aggravating factor. Her status as a recidivist or someone who has committed a crime is a consideration for the prosecutor that this punishment should be heavier to serve as a deterrent.

Amid the eight aggravating points, the prosecutor found only one mitigating factor for the 39-year-old woman.

"Mitigating circumstance: the defendant still has family dependents," concluded the prosecutor. However, it seems that this single point is not strong enough to counterbalance the overwhelming aggravating considerations.
