Sri Yulianti, the mother of the late Gusti Irawan Wibowo or known by the stage name Gustiwiw, still finds it hard to believe the departure of her eldest child. She expressed her feelings when met after the funeral procession at TPU Jati Sari, Bekasi, West Java, Sunday (15/6/2025).
"This was indeed sudden, that's why I didn't believe it when I got the call around 7 o'clock, I didn't believe it, I even video called the doctor and I didn't cry," said Sri Yulianti. Here are the details.
Sri hoped for a miracle from God that would save her child. Even though she had been informed that Gusti had no pulse, she remained positive during the journey to the location.
"Even though I was told in the bathroom that there was no pulse, I still kept positive thinking. As a human, it's okay to hope, especially as a mother," she continued.
That hope was shattered after she witnessed her child's condition, who had passed away. "There were no signs, so I couldn't believe it. There was nothing; on Friday, he said, 'Mom, I'm coming home on Sunday.' This afternoon, I was supposed to have an event with Neru, and the last time I asked him at Galaxy, I asked what he was doing in Bandung. He said, 'Podcast, Mom.' Okay, see you on Sunday."
According to statements from close friends of Gusti, the deceased had felt dizzy before being found lifeless in the bathroom. After being examined by a doctor, it was determined that the cause of death was high blood pressure that led to heart failure.
Sri believes that being overweight triggers various health problems. "Since 2012, I have been consulting with Gusti about this. Please take care of your weight, Gusti. It should be in accordance with your height. Just don't eat too much, eat vegetables. Don't have dinner. Don't sleep late too often," she said.
As a mother, Sri conveys a message to anyone not to underestimate the importance of maintaining health. She hopes Gusti's departure serves as a reminder for everyone. "Please, everyone, take care of yourselves. Don't take this lightly. Indeed, it may not seem serious. But it’s better for us to take care, yes, take care, that’s all for me, thank you," she expressed.
On that occasion, Sri also apologized if throughout his life, Gustiwiw had ever hurt others through words or actions. "I (ask) forgive Gusti if in his nature, his jokes, perhaps without him realizing it, there are things that have hurt all of you, the artists, other artists, and journalists, forgive Gusti," he explained.
He also hopes that relatives and friends will always pray for the deceased to be given the best place by His side. "Secondly, please pray for Gusti so that his grave may be spacious, his sins forgiven, and may he have a good ending, my friends," he concluded.
